Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Kagawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiyato Nakamara !
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamara will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kagawa throws a series of punches but Nakamara moves out of range.

Kagawa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Nakamara darts in and clinches Kagawa up against the ropes.
Nakamara throws a knee to the head but misses.
Kagawa is trying to push Nakamara away but Nakamara has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Kagawa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nakamara has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Kagawa kicks Nakamara off and gets to his feet.
Nakamara tries to close the distance and clinch but Kagawa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kagawa shoots in and bounces Nakamara off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kagawa could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kagawa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nakamara has his foot on Kagawa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kagawa works his way back into a safe position though.

Kagawa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nakamara 's head.
Nakamara wants to improve his position but Kagawa is controlling well.

Kagawa decides to stand up.
Nakamara darts in looking for a takedown but Kagawa gets double underhooks and turns Nakamara into the ropes.
Shinji Kagawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiyato Nakamara .
Nakamara lands a damaging elbow.

It looks like Shinji Kagawa has been cut.
Kagawa tries to pull guard but Nakamara forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.
Kagawa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nakamara smiles and moves away.
Nakamara shoots for a double leg takedown but Kagawa sprawls well. He's pushed Nakamara 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kagawa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Nakamara lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Nakamara lands a good knee to the midsection. Kagawa won't want to take too many of those.
Nakamara changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kagawa fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nakamara dives in and grabs Kagawa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kagawa pushes down on Nakamara 's head and hops out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kagawa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kagawa showed some decent athleticism there.
Nakamara slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Nakamara pushes a forearm under Kagawa's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kagawa is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
