 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gullion scores with a nice right hand.
Novkovic misses with a body kick. Gullion looks to land a combination but Novkovic avoids it well. Novkovic moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Novkovic misses the body punch and Gullion counters with a right hand to the body. Gullion blocks a head kick by Novkovic.

and Gullion counters with a body kick that stops Novkovic in his tracks momentarily. Novkovic throws an off balance right hand
and Gullion counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Novkovic throws a leg kick but Gullion moved away. Gullion takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gullion checks a leg kick. Gullion is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Novkovic will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Kulot uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Morris.

and Yaya counters with a low kick, right behind Yotsuba 's knee. Yotsuba ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Yaya moves away. Yotsuba misses the shot to the body. Tagushi Yotsuba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yaya ducks under a wild hook from Yotsuba. Yotsuba throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A big right from Yotsuba misses. Yotsuba paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Yaya shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Yotsuba throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jazwinski shoots in for a takedown but Pleasures shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jazwinski blocks a jab. Pleasures leaves Jazwinski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jazwinski tries to clinch up but Pleasures circles away and keeps his distance. Pleasures throws a quick inside leg kick. Jazwinski darts in looking for a takedown but Pleasures gets double underhooks and turns Jazwinski into the cage. John Pleasures has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Piotr Jazwinski.
Pleasures has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jazwinski regains guard immediately. Pleasures trying to control the position from guard on top but Jazwinski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pleasures trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jazwinski keeping moving, preventing Pleasures from controlling successfully.

 John Pleasures has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Jazwinski chopping away at his opponent's legs.
John Pleasures seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jazwinski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pleasures as he jumps to the side. A big left from Pleasures misses. Jazwinski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pleasures scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Pleasures throws a jab but it's blocked by Jazwinski.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Jazwinski enables Pleasures to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jazwinski manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Pleasures wants to control from the top but Jazwinski keeps moving. Jazwinski looking to control.

This has been an exciting period of action! Pleasures stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jazwinski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pleasures engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Pleasures is in close to Jazwinski's body, working some short punches and elbows. We've been told by Percy's head coaches at Evade MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Percy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hatterway to his feet. Percy stalks Hatterway and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hatterway's face. Hatterway staggers backwards, shaken. Percy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Percy slaps away a takedown attempt from Hatterway, before circling back to the center of the mat. Percy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hatterway doesn't seem bothered though. Hatterway dives in for a single leg takedown but Percy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Hatterway has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Percy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Naji moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Naji shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spar as he jumps to the side. Box Spar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spar lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Box Spar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
