The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy missing with a left hand there. Fereiera was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McCarthy listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Fereiera takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Fereiera forces McCarthy back against the cage and clinches.

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aanisan Melchior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodolfo Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aanisan Melchior had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Melchior bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Melchior tries to clinch there but Carvalho circles away.
Melchior moves out of range of the strikes.
Melchior shoots for a double leg takedown but Carvalho sprawls well. He's pushed Melchior 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carvalho lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Melchior circles away quickly and effectively.

Carvalho lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Melchior tries to move into range but Carvalho moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Melchior shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carvalho pinned against the cage. Carvalho gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Melchior has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Melchior postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carvalho looks a forlorn figure.

Melchior shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carvalho napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Melchior remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Melchior is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carvalho is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Carvalho is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Carvalho won't enjoy being in this position. Melchior looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Carvalho is tapping - it's over boys! Melchior picks up the submission victory!

Schlemper tries for a takedown but Boyka circles away easily
and Boyka counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Schlemper dives in for a single leg takedown but Boyka sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Schlemper is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Boyka to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Schlemper. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boyka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Boyka lands a big head kick that sends Schlemper tumbling to the mat! Boyka takes a step backwards and waves Schlemper back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Fabricio Schlemper has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schlemper shoots in for a takedown but Boyka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Oh Schlemper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Boyka throws a head kick but Schlemper moves out of range.
Boyka drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Schlemper right on the button. Schlemper goes down! Boyka follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Boyka gets the win via TKO!
