Sakuraba avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Cote misses with a low kick as Kronic jumps back.
A nice combination there by Kronic.

Kronic rushes Cote and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kronic pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kronic fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cote to the ground. Kronic is now in Cote's guard.
Kronic trying to control the position from guard on top but Cote is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cote wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cote manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Cote really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kronic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kronic is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Cote looking to control but Kronic is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kronic bucks up and throws Cote to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Kronic fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cote looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kronic throws a right hand that Cote ducks under and follows up with a left that Cote also avoids with ease.

Cote manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kronic on his heels. He'll look to pass Kronic's guard now, I'm sure.

Kronic is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Cote presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Kronic works on Cote's body with a couple of short punches.
Cote is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kronic pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kronic has gone for a leg lock! Cote slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kronic's guard.

Kronic has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cote off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kronic fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cote sprawls well initially but Kronic persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kronic looking for a submission but Cote manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Kronic stands and throws Cote's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cote told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Zabat tries to score a power double leg takedown but Desheriyev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zabat somewhat.
A left and a right from Desheriyev both land. Nice combination.
Desheriyev fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Zabat looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Zabat looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Desheriyev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Desheriyev has had enough of the clinch but Zabat keeps him there for the moment.
Zabat fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Giorgio Zabat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zabat gets control of Desheriyev's arms and successfully pulls guard. Zabat will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Desheriyev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zabat has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Desheriyev has managed to get both his arms back between Zabat's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Zabat has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Desheriyev doesn't defend quickly enough and Zabat has managed to lock this one up! Can Desheriyev escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Zabat on a fantastic submission victory.

Azaitar gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Crook gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Azaitar is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista misses with a left hand

and Lei counters with a head kick that drops Batista to the mat! Batista scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lei explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Lei lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Batista at a distance.
Lei displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Batista.
Batista fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Lei looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Lei backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Batista's temple! It sends Batista violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Lei celebrates and the doctors try to help Batista!
