Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William Wallace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Silva! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva tries to clinch up but Wallace circles away and keeps his distance. Wallace gets tackled into the cage by Silva. Silva maintains the clinch. Silva tries a knee to the head but Wallace blocks it.
Wallace prevents the takedown attempt.
Silva landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wallace.
Silva manages to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Silva wants to stand and escape but Wallace is having none of it. Silva pushes Wallace off and gets back to his feet.
Silva has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wallace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Silva.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silva throws a right and a left that both miss. Silva tries to clinch but Wallace is having none of it. Silva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wallace manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wallace on his heels. He'll look to pass Wallace's guard now, I'm sure. Silva gets to his feet. Wallace looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Silva misses with an attempted mid kick.
Wallace shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wallace gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Wallace gets control of Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wallace will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Silva looking to pass the guard. Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wallace looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wallace looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wallace! Wallace tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wallace has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wallace tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Silva is trying to buck Wallace off. Wallace looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Wallace wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well. Silva pushes Wallace away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wallace gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Silva throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wallace doesn't succeed with the takedown enabling Silva to counter with a crisp jab. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wallace swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Silva gets a clinch. Wallace is defending well against a takedown attempt. Silva trying to land knees to the body.
Silva has picked Wallace up - he's going for a ride! Silva dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva is trying for a kimura here. Wallace looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kobe Romeo Paris! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wojtk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Paris moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Paris looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Wojtk slaps away a takedown attempt from Paris, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Wojtk. Paris leaves Wojtk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Paris. Wojtk takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wojtk misses with a right hand and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Wojtk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paris tries to avoid it but Wojtk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paris to the ground. Paris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Wojtk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wojtk drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Paris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wojtk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Paris is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wojtk is aware though and is defending well.

And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Paris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Paris wants to control from the top but Wojtk keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kobe Romeo Paris will probably get the nod. That's time! Wojtk's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Wojtk shoots for a double leg takedown but Paris sprawls well. He's pushed Wojtk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Paris scores with a shot to the body.

Wojtk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wojtk closes the distance and clinches up with Paris, looking for a takedown. Wojtk pushes Paris against the cage but Paris circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Wojtk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wojtk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paris's waist but Paris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wojtk off to one side. Wojtk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paris sprawls well. Paris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wojtk gets slowly back to his feet. Damon Wojtk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wojtk takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Paris throws a front kick that sends Wojtk stumbling back into the cage. Wojtk changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Paris looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Paris gets back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wojtk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Paris controls Wojtk momentarily but Wojtk frees himself. Paris is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wojtk is aware though and is defending well. Paris wants to sweep here but Wojtk controlling him for the moment. Paris striking from the bottom here. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wojtk's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Paris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wojtk's guard. Wojtk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wojtk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paris on the ground.

Wojtk lands with a punch from half guard. Paris is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wojtk scores with a couple of nice shots. Paris moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paris has momentary wrist control but Wojtk slips an elbow through the middle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wojtk lands a couple of elbows. Wojtk trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Wojtk keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Paris's head. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paris is on top in guard.

Kobe Romeo Paris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Paris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wojtk swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Paris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kobe Romeo Paris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Paris lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Wojtk shoots in and drives through. Paris sprawls well. Paris connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Wojtk is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Wojtk changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Paris looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Paris wants to control but Wojtk postures up. Wojtk is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Paris has escaped the position, nice work there. Paris manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wojtk landing small, sideways elbows. Paris working the head and body with strikes. Wojtk is trying to get back to full guard. Paris with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wojtk has hold of Paris's hands but Paris slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Paris blocks the strikes from Wojtk.
And that's the end of the fight! Kobe Romeo Paris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Paris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ken Ingles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
