0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marvin Zerkle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kaleo Makua! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Makua does no damage. Zerkle scores with a crisp jab that stopped Makua in his tracks. Makua misses with a body kick. Makua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Makua. Zerkle does a little dance to reset his feet. Makua tries to score a power double leg takedown but Zerkle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Makua somewhat. Makua misses with a takedown and Zerkle counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Zerkle. Zerkle lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Makua backwards. I was talking to Zerkle's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Zerkle landing knees to the body.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Makua wants to control from the top but Zerkle keeps moving. Makua preventing the sweep. Makua gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zerkle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zerkle wants it to stay on the feet. Marvin Zerkle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaleo Makua. Zerkle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Zerkle is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Zerkle lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Makua backwards. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zerkle crunches a lovely knee into Makua's ribcage. Zerkle lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Makua looks winded! Zerkle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zerkle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Zerkle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Makua has escaped the position, nice work there. Makua takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Zerkle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Zerkle landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Zerkle is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Makua knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Zerkle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Makua keeps working.

We've been informed that Makua has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Zerkle tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Zerkle cracks Makua with an elbow. That is naaassty. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Zerkle working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Zerkle stands up and we're back to a striking position. Makua tries for a takedown but Zerkle circles away easily and Zerkle counters by clinching up. Makua jumps guard but Zerkle stands there with Makua around his waist. Makua gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hadjiev ducks under a wild hook from Van Noorjdick. Hadjiev steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Noorjdick. Van Noorjdick has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Werner Van Noorjdick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hadjiev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Van Noorjdick throws out the jab. Hadjiev walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hadjiev stands and salutes the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rutten clinches with his opponent.

Rutten decides to pull guard. Rutten is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Setta defends well. Setta has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Setta slips nicely into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Setta has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Rutten keeping control of the position. Rutten is trying to escape back to his feet but Setta uses the scramble to pass into side control.

This has been an exciting period of action! Rutten loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rutten tries to free his leg and advance position but Setta is retaining full guard. Rutten throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Setta works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rutten stands up over Setta, holding his feet. Setta throws a head kick that misses and Rutten counters with a single leg into guard. Setta didn't expect that. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rutten is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Setta is working an open guard so Rutten takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Rutten closes the distance and pushes Setta back into the cage. Rutten taking a breather. Marcus Setta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Setta pushes Rutten back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Antonio Rutten seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Reeves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donovan Bagcal! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reeves tries to land a front kick but Bagcal steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Reeves closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Bagcal has had enough of the clinch but Reeves keeps him there for the moment. Bagcal misses with a knee to the head. Reeves dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Reeves prevents Bagcal from breaking the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Reeves. I was talking to Reeves's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Bagcal changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reeves fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ryan Reeves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bagcal stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Reeves. Bagcal has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Reeves. Reeves throws a looping overhand right but Bagcal ducks down to avoid it. Bagcal tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reeves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bagcal somewhat. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bagcal crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Reeves - the referee stops the clock and Bagcal gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Reeves. Bagcal manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Bagcal looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Reeves moves into the clinch. Bagcal tries to circle away but Reeves has him pinned against the cage. Reeves is struggling to control the position. Bagcal creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Bagcal takes an elbow to the forehead.
It looks like Donovan Bagcal has been cut. Reeves unloads a knee to the mid-section. Reeves with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Reeves is stalling here.
Reeves lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Reeves crunches a lovely knee into Bagcal's ribcage. Bagcal takes an elbow to the temple. Bagcal throws a punch but it's blocked by Reeves. Bagcal with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Bagcal is rocked! Come on Reeves - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Reeves pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Bagcal! Two more big strikes from Reeves and Bagcal crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!

A less than humble Ryan Reeves misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. The defeated Donovan Bagcal had this to say: 'all thanks and praises go out to my LORD JAH. without him nothing would be possible .BLESS'.

5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Murdoch McNash! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNash bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Roid lands an overhand right. McNash has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Roid drives through with a takedown into McNash's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Roid trying to control the position from guard on top but McNash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Roid prevents McNash from getting back to his feet. Roid postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Roid showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Roid is looking to work some ground and pound but McNash has wrist control. Roid throws a strike but McNash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. We've been hearing good reports from Roid's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roid has his feet on McNash's thighs here. He's pushed McNash off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! McNash screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nogueira connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Bravo's hands. Bravo thows a left - swing and a miss! Nogueira thuds his right hand into Bravo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Bravo misses with a straight left. Nogueira thows a body shot but no joy. Bravo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nogueira steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bravo. Nogueira closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bravo's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Bravo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nogueira gets to his feet - Bravo follows without any prompting. Nogueira dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nogueira listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
