0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Norg Loire! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batou connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Batou pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Batou swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Batou misses with a low kick as Loire jumps back. Loire lands with a cross. Batou misses with a few strikes there.
Some wild striking there from Batou.
Loire changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Loire stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Batou. Batou throws a right and a left that both miss. Batou tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Batou throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Batou uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Loire.

Loire connects with a body shot. Batou misses with a straight left. Batou misses with a body kick. Batou tries to clinch up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batou throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Batou moves in looking to clinch but Loire pushes him off. Loire scores with a kick to the midsection. Batou is breathing heavily. Loire goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Saburo Batou has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Batou slips a jab and a cross from Loire.
A thudding body kick lands there by Loire!
A left and a right from Loire both land. Nice combination. Batou misses with a low kick. Loire lands with a shot to the body. Loire dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Batou tries to close the distance and clinch up but Loire swats him away and circles back towards the center. Loire lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Loire gets a double leg takedown into Batou's guard. Loire must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Loire controlling from the top position. Loire pushing down on Batou's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Batou's coaches at Tōshi have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Loire passes to full mount! Loire takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Loire throws a wild left hand from mount and Batou manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Batou is trying to stand back up but Loire is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like Loire might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Norg Loire. Loire fails to land with a series of punches.
Loire cracks Batou with a good jab. Loire takes a swing at Batou's ribcage but misses. Loire uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Batou has time to react. Batou misses with an attempted mid kick.
Batou throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Loire thows a body shot but no joy. Batou throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Loire throws a quick inside leg kick. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Loire dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Batou misses with the body kick and Loire counters with a series of strikes. Batou will be more careful next time no doubt. Loire throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Batou crashing down! Batou tries to stagger back to his feet but Loire just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Batou asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Norg Loire! An out of breath Norg Loire thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palumbo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Palumbo throws a right and a left that Hayashi avoids nicely. Palumbo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Palumbo tries to bum rush Hayashi with a series of wild strikes but Hayashi uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Palumbo swings for the body but Hayashi moves out of range.

Palumbo throws a nice looking combination but Hayashi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Palumbo misses with a two punch combination.

Palumbo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Palumbo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Danga de danga de dang - Palumbo scores with a four punch combination! Hayashi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hayashi showed some decent athleticism there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Palumbo is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hayashi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Palumbo defends it well. Hayashi prevents Palumbo from standing back up.

Hayashi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Palumbo sees it coming and defends easily. Hayashi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Palumbo is just riding it out for now. Hayashi eventually gives up the hold. Palumbo has a hand on Hayashi's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hayashi takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Palumbo is trying to escape the mount.
Hayashi working for a submission but Palumbo is keeping him at bay. Palumbo tries to hold on but Hayashi postures up. Palumbo squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Hayashi has hold of Palumbo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Palumbo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Palumbo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hayashi on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hayashi with good strikes from the mount here! Hayashi raining down hammerfists from mount. Palumbo is desperately trying to improve his position but Hayashi has a good base and remains in mount. Hayashi is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Palumbo is in real trouble.

Hayashi gets his hands free as Palumbo looks to control. Palumbo looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Hayashi is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Palumbo knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Palumbo for a finish. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Palumbo looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Hayashi is looking for the choke from the back position but Palumbo is controlling his hands well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Palumbo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Palumbo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Palumbo is squirming around, avoiding Hayashi's attempts to control the action. Palumbo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hayashi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Palumbo is surviving well by controlling Hayashi's body position as best he can. Palumbo is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hayashi controlling from the full mount. Palumbo gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Sho Hayashi will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Palumbo lands a jab-cross combination. Palumbo lands a glancing blow to the side of Hayashi's head. Palumbo connects with a body shot that sends Hayashi's belly button to the back. Hayashi walks into a left hand. Hayashi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Palumbo is fending him off so far but Hayashi persists. Nope, Palumbo circles away and we're back to standing. Hayashi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Palumbo swats him away and circles back towards the center. Palumbo scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hayashi looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Palumbo! Hayashi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hayashi taking a breather here. Hayashi is breathing heavily. Palumbo can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hayashi prevents Palumbo from escaping the position. Hayashi misses with the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Palumbo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Palumbo wants to get back to his feet but Hayashi drags him back down. Hayashi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Palumbo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Palumbo struggling a bit here. Hayashi is working to tighten his grip on Palumbo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Palumbo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hayashi is really squeezing tight and eventually Palumbo passes out! Hayashi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sakurai walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Sakurai moves in looking to clinch but Jordan pushes him off. Sakurai fails in his attempt to clinch. Jordan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Horrible takedown by Sakurai or perhaps it was just good defense by Jordan which made him look bad. Jordan keeps the fight on the outside. Sakurai gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Jordan doesn't manage to clinch there - Sakurai circles away.
Sakurai shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jordan is trying to defend but Sakurai finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Sakurai with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Sakurai is nestled in close to Jordan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sakurai lands with a punch from half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Sakurai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sakurai in particular looking to stall. Sakurai is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jordan! Sakurai with the ground and pound from mount. Jordan wants to hold on but Sakurai pushes him away. Sakurai looking to finish Jordan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jordan! Jordan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Hiro Sakurai has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Jordan fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Sakurai fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiro Sakurai. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sakurai fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jordan sprawls well initially but Sakurai persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sakurai seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sakurai working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Sakurai not doing much here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Sakurai moves into full mount! Jordan won't be happy about that!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sakurai looking to finish Jordan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jordan! Sakurai has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jordan has left one of his arms exposed and Sakurai doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Jordan screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Sanada throws a leg kick that misses. Sanada lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Balangay circles away quickly and effectively. Sanada drops Balangay with a beautiful combination! Balangay stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sanada is looking for the KO!
Balangay is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Balangay tries to get into range but Sanada steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Balangay! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Sanada scores the big KO victory!

He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Knight to score with a decent uppercut. Aaron Knight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saidov clinches up against the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Saidov lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Knight backwards. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Knight. Saidov works on Knight's body with a couple of short punches. Saidov is pushing Knight up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Saidov lands a left hand.
