Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vic Mackey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mackey kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Shield. Peter Monson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monson doesn't manage to clinch there - Mackey circles away.
Mackey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Monson as he jumps to the side. Mackey jabbing away but nothing is landing. A nice inside leg kick there by Monson. That's going to slow Mackey down. Mackey moves in looking to clinch but Monson pushes him off. A head kick misses from Monson. Mackey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Monson sees that one coming and sprawls well. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parker shoots in and drives through. Luger sprawls well. Parker looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Parker fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Lex Luger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Luger with a dominant takedown and that's winded Parker. Luger working some strikes from top position. Luger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Luger passes Parker's left leg - he's now in half guard. Luger is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rage throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Penn was covering up waiting for the punch and Rage finishes the takedown easily into guard. Penn keeping moving, preventing Rage from controlling successfully. Rage being controlled here momentarily. Rage is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rage's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rage wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
