1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddyy Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales throws a half hearted mid kick. Gonzales misses with a kick to the body and Hutton counters with a head kick that drops Gonzales - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!
Gonzales is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hutton lands a nice short elbow. Gonzales is still in real trouble! Can Hutton finish him? Hutton is looking for a kimura but Gonzales is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hutton to get the leverage. Hutton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gonzales defends it well. Hutton lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Gonzales! More strikes land and this one is all over! Hutton jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dempsey tries to bum rush Eel with a series of wild strikes but Eel uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Dempsey misses with a looping right. Eel takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Eel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Eel swats away the attempt to clinch by Dempsey. Eel avoids the body shot from Dempsey.
Eel pushes Dempsey up against the cage in a clinch. Dempsey is looking to control Eel's arms but Eel gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dempsey has his back to the cage. Dempsey stalling the fight.
Dempsey wants to break free but Eel has control.
Dempsey is fighting off a takedown attempt but Eel is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dempsey to the mat. Dempsey regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Eel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dempsey pulls Eel in to control the position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Eel wants to control from the top but Dempsey keeps moving. We've been hearing that Eel has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Dempsey looking for a sweep. Not yet Dempsey, not yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dempsey connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Eel momentarily.
Dempsey connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Eel covering up! Dempsey comes in with a big uppercut and Eel goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Reginald Dempsey! A less than humble Reginald Dempsey misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Surgov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Raines sprawls well initially but Surgov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Raines is looking to escape. Surgov sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Raines defending well though. Surgov wants to pass to mount but Raines is defending the position. Raines looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Raines is trying to stand up here but Surgov is controlling him well. Raines is not content to let Surgov control the position. Surgov thows a huge punch but Raines dodges it nicely.

Surgov winds up and cracks Raines with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Surgov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Surgov throwing shots but Raines is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Raines is trying to stand up here but Surgov is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Surgov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Raines really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Surgov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Raines pushes Surgov off looking to stand but Surgov dives back in and keeps control.
Surgov moves nicely into side control. Surgov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Surgov scoring with punches from side control. Surgov has hold of Raines's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Raines seems comfortable defending it but Surgov has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Raines is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Raines is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Surgov couldn't care less - he's delighted!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Milnes takes a body punch but keeps moving. McCallum tries for a takedown but Milnes circles away easily and Milnes counters with a head kick. Jab from McCallum. McCallum gets tackled into the cage by Milnes. Milnes maintains the clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ants Milnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike McCallum. Milnes feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McCallum's calf. Milnes thumps McCallum with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Milnes fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McCallum. McCallum with a lazy takedown attempt and Milnes counters with a head kick that wobbles McCallum - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Milnes sends him down. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ants Milnes! Ants Milnes decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big left from Vega misses. Vega gets caught napping as Sturtsil dives in and scores a takedown. Vega manages to retain guard. Vega wants to sweep here but Sturtsil controlling him for the moment. Sturtsil throwing strikes from guard but Vega blocks nicely. Sturtsil avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vega had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sturtsil defends it easily. Vega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sturtsil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vega swivels though and keeps the full guard. Vega wants to sweep here but Sturtsil controlling him for the moment. Sturtsil stands up over Vega, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sturtsil working his ground and pound in the gym. Vega is looking for a triangle but Sturtsil pushes his legs off easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Vega's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Vega looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sturtsil is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sturtsil keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vega's head. Sturtsil with a nice head shot there. Vega working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sturtsil doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sturtsil manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sturtsil got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vega has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sturtsil has managed to get both his arms back between Vega's legs - danger averted. Sturtsil connects with a couple of short punches. Sturtsil with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Sturtsil makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sturtsil is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Sturtsil lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sturtsil drops back looking for a leg! Vega is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vega manages to kick Sturtsil off! Sturtsil jumps back into Vega's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sturtsil content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sturtsil trying to control the position from guard on top but Vega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Sturtsil controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sturtsil trying to control but Vega is working from the bottom. Sturtsil cracks Vega with a solid left hand. Sturtsil scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Sturtsil lands a couple of decent looking shots. Sturtsil lands a couple of decent looking shots. Vega utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Vega looking for a sweep. Not yet Vega, not yet. Sturtsil working some strikes from top position. Sturtsil pushes down on Vega's leg and manages to get into half guard. Vega is looking to improve his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sturtsil connects with a nice short shot to Vega's temple.

Sturtsil winds up and cracks Vega with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Sturtsil has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sturtsil scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Vega wants to improve his position but Sturtsil is controlling well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sturtsil seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Sturtsil is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Sturtsil looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vega with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Vega won't allow Sturtsil to pass to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Sturtsil there. Sturtsil working the head and body with strikes. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sturtsil trying to control the action but Vega is working from the bottom. Vega is looking for a sweep. Sturtsil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sturtsil wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vega keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vega misses with a straight right. Vega throws a front kick that sends Sturtsil stumbling back into the cage. Sturtsil fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vega avoids it really well and circles away. Steve Vega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deangelo Sturtsil. Vega throws the left hand but Sturtsil avoids the punch easily. Vega defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sturtsil. Vega fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Vega gets in close and instigates a clinch. Vega misses with some punches.

Vega manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

He obviously fancies his chances standing. Sturtsil steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vega. Vega slaps away a takedown attempt from Sturtsil, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sturtsil shoots in looking for a takedown. Vega tries to sprawl out of it but Sturtsil keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vega manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sturtsil walks into a left hand. Sturtsil shoots in and drives through. Vega sprawls well. Sturtsil shoots in for a takedown but Vega shows good takedown defense. Deangelo Sturtsil is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Vega moves into range and connects with a jab.

Vega tries to sprawl out of it but Sturtsil keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vega manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Vega comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Vega lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Vega throws a nice looking combination but Sturtsil bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Vega takes a swing at Sturtsil's ribcage but misses. Vega looks to score with a jab to the body but Sturtsil is just out of range. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sturtsil. Vega connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sturtsil momentarily.
Steve Vega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vega tries to score with a low kick but Sturtsil moves his leg out of the way. Vega clinches up with Sturtsil and pushes him back against the cage.

Vega looks to throw an elbow but misses. Vega misses with a short punch on the inside. Vega misses with a short punch on the inside. Vega taking a breather. Vega lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sturtsil backwards. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Sturtsil is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Vega is defending well for now. Sturtsil has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vega is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Sturtsil wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Vega lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vega cracks Sturtsil with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Sturtsil uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vega. Vega cracks a nice hook into Sturtsil's ribs. Sturtsil shoots in for a takedown but Vega shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Steve Vega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deangelo Sturtsil. Vega misses with the combination.
Vega thows a body shot but no joy. Vega tests Sturtsil's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vega bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sturtsil's head backwards. Sturtsil misses with a takedown attempt and Vega counters with a stiff right hand.
Sturtsil is rocked! Sturtsil takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sturtsil looks up at the clock. Bad move! Vega lands a right hand from hell, dropping Sturtsil. Vega pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sokoloff connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Sokoloff tries for a takedown but Wallace circles away easily and Wallace counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wallace. Wallace stalling in the clinch.
Sokoloff changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wallace fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wallace dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sokoloff. That did some damage! Wallace loads up on a big right hand but Sokoloff slips the punch. Wallace just misses with a punch to the body.
Sokoloff swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Wallace. Wallace takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. This has been an exciting period of action! Sokoloff looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wallace is fending him off so far but Sokoloff persists. Nope, Wallace circles away and we're back to standing. Antoine Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yermolai Sokoloff. Wallace looks to score with a jab to the body but Sokoloff is just out of range. It looks like Yermolai Sokoloff has been cut. Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch but Sokoloff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sokoloff misses with a head kick.

Sokoloff rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wallace moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Yermolai Sokoloff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sokoloff throws a series of punches but Wallace avoids them all with ease. Wallace scores with a nice head shot. Sokoloff fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Wallace digs a good hook to Sokoloff's body.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wallace throws an elbow that misses. Sokoloff uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wallace's guard. Nice move by Sokoloff! Sokoloff trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom. Wallace looking for a guillotine here but Sokoloff defends easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Wallace looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Sokoloff shoots for a takedown but Wallace saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Sokoloff lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wallace circles away quickly and effectively. Sokoloff lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Sokoloff fails in his attempt to clinch. Wallace walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sokoloff. Sokoloff throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wallace stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wallace changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Wallace stuns Sokoloff with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Yermolai Sokoloff seems to be getting the better of the standup. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wallace fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Sokoloff motions for Wallace to come forward. Sokoloff throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Sokoloff slips under a jab. We've been told by Wallace's head coaches at Palazzo Paisano that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Wallace avoids the head kick by Sokoloff.
Sokoloff is breathing heavily. Sokoloff avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Sokoloff shoots in for a double leg but Wallace sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sokoloff on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Wallace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sokoloff is working to avoid the ground and pound but Wallace connects with a decent elbow. Wallace grinds an elbow into Sokoloff's temple. Wallace landing strikes. Wallace advances nicely into full mount. Wallace lands a couple of good shots and Sokoloff has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wallace is landing with strikes from the back. Wallace is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Wallace punishes Sokoloff with strikes from the back mount. Wallace lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Sokoloff.
