Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cory Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Irvin Ross! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ross swings widly with a right hand
and Rua counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ross won't be happy with that. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Ross pushes Rua away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rua gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Ross sneaks out the side door and pushes Rua away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Rua shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Ross rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rua moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ross swings widly with a right hand
and Rua counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rua. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ross kicks Rua off and gets to his feet. Ross connects with a body shot. Rua takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Ross throws a nice outside leg kick. Irvin Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ross is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rua. Nice body punch from Ross. Ross looks to score with a jab to the body but Rua is just out of range. Ross throws a poor cross that misses
and Rua counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ross won't be happy with that. Sloppy strikes there by Rua.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ross is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rua has just dragged him back down to the mat. Rua working the body and head with strikes. Ross wants to get back to his feet but Rua drags him back down. Ross looks winded! Rua works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Ross has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Rua is working Ross over with some ground and pound from side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ross pushes Rua away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rua gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Rua trying to control the action but Ross is working from the bottom. Ross on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Rua prevents Ross from escaping the position. Rua connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ross some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ross is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rua has just dragged him back down to the mat. Rua scoring with punches and elbows. Rua tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rua scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ross to see if he's OK.
Ross is rocked! Rua misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ross pushes Rua away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rua gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The ground and pound from Rua seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ross is trying to buck Rua off. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rua lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ross down.
Rua cracks Ross with an elbow. That is naaassty. Ross is still in real trouble! Can Rua finish him? Rua works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Ross is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rua is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Ross misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ross throws a half hearted mid kick. Ross seems to have recovered his senses. Ross swings away with a leg kick that misses. Ross looks to land a combination but Rua avoids it well. Rua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Ross connects with a jab. Rua moves forwards but Ross connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ross thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rua if he has to take too many more of those.
Ross throws a hook to the side of Rua's head but Rua sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ross misses with a head kick.
Ross motions for Rua to come forward. Ross throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ross throws a head kick that Rua semi-blocks.
Rua has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ross finds it's way round the side to connect with Rua's head. Rua darts in looking for a takedown but Ross gets double underhooks and turns Rua into the cage. Ross pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rua shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ross pinned against the cage. Ross gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cory Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rua stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ross. Rua has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ross. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jab by Ross. Ross ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rua seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Ross scoring well with a low kick there.
Rua moves out of range of the leg kick from Ross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cory Rua dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rua looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ross is fending him off so far but Rua persists. Nope, Ross circles away and we're back to standing. Ross lands a lovely overhand right. Ross throws a right and a left that both miss. Ross tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rua fails with a takedown attempt. Ross throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rua sees it coming and avoids it easily. Rua shoots in and gets a takedown into Ross's guard. Ross has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rua is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Ross prevents the takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ross throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rua blocks it with crossed arms. Ross breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A swing and a miss from Ross. Ross fails to land with a series of punches.

Ross turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Irvin Ross showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Cory Rua's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Sloppy strikes from Ross. Those never looked like landing. Ross uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rua has time to react. Ross connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Ross defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rua. Ross fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rua. Ross ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Danga de danga de dang - Ross scores with a four punch combination! Ross throws a head kick but Rua moves out of range.
Ross throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ross throws a combination that misses and Rua counters with a nice double leg into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ross utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rua throws a big elbow that misses. Rua won't allow Ross to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ross has his feet on Rua's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Irvin Ross seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rua slips under a jab. Rua dives in and grabs Ross's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ross pushes down on Rua's head and hops out. Irvin Ross is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ross lands a leg kick that knocks Rua off balance momentarily. Ross throws an off balance right hand

Rua lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Rua looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Rua thows a huge punch but Ross dodges it nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ross is trying to buck Rua off. Hans Krueger had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vosne defending well as Chow loads up on a big left hand. Chow blocks a jab. Vosne tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chow was well out of range. Poor timing from Vosne. Chow throws a combination that misses and Vosne counters with a lovely straight right hand! Vosne throws a body punch but Chow moves out of range. Chow throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vosne stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Vosne lands with a good body shot. We've been informed that Vosne has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Vosne connects with a nice looking jab.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Vosne, as that shot connected.

Vosne displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chow throws out the jab. Vosne lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Vosne lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Agious sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Agious takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Fu throws a solid leg kick but Agious takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Fu. Fu throws a shot from downtown. Agious moves away and avoids it. Fu lands a head kick. Agious smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Fu bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Agious's head. A combination from Agious does no damage.
