Daniels comes to the cage accompanied by Tiny Dancer-Elton John. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Elton Daniels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Thornton! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daniels fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thornton shoots in looking for a takedown but Daniels manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thornton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Thornton shoots and misses and Daniels counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Thornton is trying to keep Daniels in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thornton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Daniels is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Daniels definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thornton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Daniels doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daniels manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Daniels wants to control from the top but Thornton keeps moving. Daniels postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Thornton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Daniels wants to pass the guard but Thornton is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thornton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daniels defends it easily. Thornton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Daniels! Daniels is wriggling around trying to escape.
Thornton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Daniels has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Daniels! Daniels is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thornton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thornton has escaped and now he's on top!

Thornton wants to control from the top but Daniels keeps moving. Thornton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Thornton works a leg free and moves into half guard. Daniels actively working from the bottom here. Thornton is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Daniels to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. Thornton preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thornton passes Daniels's left leg - he's now in half guard. Daniels avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Thornton. Thornton is keen to just control but Daniels is a slippery customer. Daniels wants to get back to full guard. Thornton stalling away here and it's allowed Daniels to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Thornton wants to control from the top but Daniels keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thornton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Daniels's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Daniels has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Daniels looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thornton is one step ahead there. Joe Thornton dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Daniels slips under a jab. Daniels punishes Thornton's body with a nice straight punch. Daniels lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Daniels ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thornton moves away. Daniels swings for the body but Thornton moves out of range.

Daniels scores with a takedown into Thornton's guard. Thornton is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Daniels has his hands clasped together but Thornton extends and breaks Daniels's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Thornton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lightyear lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Cobain tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lightyear swivels and escapes. Cobain looks for a takedown but Lightyear sprawls well. Cobain on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Nice takedown defense from Cobain. No joy for Lightyear on that attempt. A punch combination from Lightyear misses. Cobain instigates a clinch. Lightyear gets underhooks to prevent Cobain's takedown attempt.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cross closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santos to the mat! Santos manages to get full guard. Santos is trying to keep Cross in close.
Cross is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cross trying to control but Santos is working from the bottom. Cross postures up in Santos's guard and throws a big left but Santos blocks it. Santos striking off his back but it's not causing Cross any problems. Cross controls from within his opponent's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chris Cross hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Sloppy strikes from Cross. Those never looked like landing. Cross is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A head kick misses from Cross. Cross closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santos to the mat! Santos manages to get full guard. Cross throws a head kick that misses. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Cross tries to clinch there but Santos circles away.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Cross was stalling too much, according to the referee. Cross tries to close the distance and clinch but Santos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Santos slips a jab and a cross from Cross.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Cross trying to control from half guard but Santos is working away. Santos wants to get back to his feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chris Cross wasn't active enough on the ground. Cross misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No joy there for Cross, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Cross bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Cross throws a right and a left that both miss. Cross dives in and scores a takedown into Santos's guard. Cross slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Santos keeping moving, preventing Cross from controlling successfully.

Chris Cross is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cross has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Santos wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Cross comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cross has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pew shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Starstryder napping and manages to drive through into side control! Pew tries to move into full mount but can't pass Starstryder's legs. Pew goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Starstryder rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pew's guard! Nice work there by Starstryder! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pew seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pew keeping moving, preventing Starstryder from controlling successfully. Pew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Starstryder is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Pew has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Starstryder is looking to defend but Pew has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Starstryder! Pew pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Starstryder taps out and this one is all over!

Dots Raining Pain had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Raining Pain avoiding damage under a succession of punches from OlyLarsen. OlyLarsen is keen to just control but Raining Pain is a slippery customer. OlyLarsen scoring with strikes to the body and head. Raining Pain on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Raining Pain might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. OlyLarsen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. OlyLarsen is trying to control. Raining Pain wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. OlyLarsen is pressing down on Raining Pain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Raining Pain is holding on for now. OlyLarsen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lykourgos has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gracie's face.

Dufinbeger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vos throws a hook to the side of Girardi's head but Girardi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Vos swings widly with a right hand
and Girardi counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Girardi prevents Vos from improving his position. Girardi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Girardi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brad Bandridge opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see. In defeat, Daniel Hoench stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well...that sucks. Ill be back a better fighter. Go Jesus'.
