The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grzesiuk misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Grzesiuk fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Valdez to the ground. Grzesiuk is now in Valdez's guard.

Grzesiuk decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Valdez stuffs the takedown attempt from Grzesiuk. Grzesiuk gets slowly back to his feet.
Valdez throws a leg kick that is checked

and Grzesiuk counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Grzesiuk looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Valdez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Valdez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grzesiuk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hachiro Matsui told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

We've been hearing good reports from Bark's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Keiji Mutou really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Meet the Future logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
