Payne scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.
Payne throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Genghis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan takes a kick to the side of the head.
Thompson tries to work over Khan's front leg with a kick but Khan checks it.
Thompson thows a body shot but no joy.
Thompson throws a body punch but Khan moves out of range.
Khan is looking to clinch but Thompson is avoiding it.
Khan throws a solid leg kick but Thompson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Khan.
Thompson swings for the body but Khan moves out of range.

Thompson swats away the attempt to clinch by Khan.
Thompson misses with a body punch
and Khan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Khan slips a jab from Thompson.
Khan cracks Thompson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Thompson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Khan.

Khan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thompson avoids the body shot from Khan.
Genghis Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Thompson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Thompson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Thompson throws a hook to the side of Khan's head but Khan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Thompson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Thompson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Khan moves away from the strike by Thompson.
Thompson throws a hook but Khan avoids it easily.
Thompson misses with a leg kick
and Khan counters with a left to the body.

Thompson blocks a jab.
Thompson slips a straight right by Khan.
Thompson gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Khan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Thompson thinking.
Thompson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Thompson lands with a nice body kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thompson throws a hook but Khan blocks it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thompson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Khan.
Khan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Thompson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Thompson moves out of range as Khan strikes.
Thompson misses the shot to the body.
Thompson misses with a two punch combination.
Khan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Khan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thompson was well out of range. Poor timing from Khan.
Khan throws a big shot that misses.
Thompson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Khan jabs Thompson right on the nose. Thompson blinks but takes it well.
Thompson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Khan.
Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Thompson slips a straight right by Khan.
Decent striking displayed by Khan there.
Thompson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nice defenses there by Khan.
Thompson swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Khan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Khan looks to land a left hand but Thompson moved out of range nicely.
Khan's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Khan duly obliges.

It looks like Calvin Thompson has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Calvin Thompson will probably get the nod.

Khan closes the distance but Thompson moves to the side
and Thompson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Khan thinking.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Thompson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Khan moves away.
Thompson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Thompson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
A big right from Thompson misses.
Khan takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Khan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Thompson lands with a nice body punch.
Thompson throws a head kick but Khan moves out of range.
Khan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Khan drops his hands momentarily and Thompson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Thompson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Khan tries to clinch up but Thompson circles away and keeps his distance.
Khan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Thompson Rushes Khan and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Khan is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Thompson Piles on the pressure and Khan crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
