5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Olaf Backstrom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, James Barnett! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett avoids the head kick by Backstrom.
Barnett looks winded! Barnett gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Backstrom to score an easy takedown into full guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Backstrom is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Backstrom decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barnett, up you get! Backstrom shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Barnett manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Backstrom drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Backstrom seems to have locked his on tight now - Barnett screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Backstrom, as he picks up the win!

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Robin Verhoeven was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robin Verhoeven! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boldyrev shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Verhoeven sprawls well. Verhoeven wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boldyrev gets slowly back to his feet. Verhoeven shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Verhoeven stands up and waves to Boldyrev to follow him. Boldyrev with a poor takedown and Verhoeven counters with a takedown into side control. Verhoeven is working to tighten his grip on Boldyrev's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Boldyrev has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Verhoeven is really squeezing tight and eventually Boldyrev passes out! Verhoeven breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Haggstrom! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viktor Volkov! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haggstrom leaves Volkov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A right-left combo lands from Volkov. Volkov misses with a jab, cross combination.
Volkov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Haggstrom manages to avoid it. Viktor Volkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Volkov throws a shot from downtown. Haggstrom moves away and avoids it. Volkov is looking to land body kicks. Volkov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Volkov closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Volkov is trying to force a seperation but Haggstrom has the dominant position. Volkov effectively controlling the action here. Volkov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Volkov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sloppy strikes from Volkov. Those never looked like landing. Volkov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Haggstrom is trying to defend but Volkov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Volkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haggstrom keeps working. Haggstrom misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Haggstrom manages to get to full guard.
Haggstrom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Volkov won't allow Haggstrom to sweep him here. Haggstrom has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Volkov doesn't defend quickly enough and Haggstrom has managed to lock this one up! Can Volkov escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Haggstrom on a fantastic submission victory.
