The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barton throws a half hearted mid kick.
Sloppy strikes from Pike. Those never looked like landing.

Barton dives in and scores a takedown into Pike's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Pike looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Pike escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pike has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at IMMA Gym of ASS. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pike has his foot on Barton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barton works his way back into a safe position though.

Barton wants to control from the top but Pike keeps moving.

Barton is looking to pass into half guard but Pike pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Pike is in guard.

Pike postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Barton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pike is aware though and is defending well.
Barton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pike trying to control the position from guard on top but Barton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pike wants to pass the guard but Barton is keeping the position.

Barton isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pike stacks Barton on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pike!
The referee asks Pike politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pike prefers to stall for the moment though.

Pike tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pike has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Barton tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Pike is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pike maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Barton could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Pike has cracked it and Barton is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Pike!

Jussi Hempele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Orlov's coach down at NGT's Elite Facility was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Orlov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Trzcinski crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Orlov - the referee stops the clock and Trzcinski gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Orlov. Trzcinski manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Trzcinski.
