The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gadzhiev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Riley counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Riley successfully pulls guard.
Gadzhiev is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Riley managing to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Horrible takedown attempt by Riley or perhaps it was just good defense by Gadzhiev, which made it look bad.

Riley looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gadzhiev puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Gadzhiev wants to pass to mount but Riley is defending the position. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bromholm tries to clinch up. Bromholm shoots in but no luck this time. Bromholm shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Bromholm thows a huge punch but Carlsson dodges it nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carlsson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carlsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Bromholm is retaining full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Carlsson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bromholm has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carlsson has managed to get both his arms back between Bromholm's legs - danger averted. Bromholm looks winded! Carlsson content to stall in guard here.
