The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kirkland shoots in and drives through. Roy sprawls well. Kirkland shoots in but no luck this time. Kirkland avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roy works Kirkland's body with a nice hook. Roy avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Kirkland misses with a looping right. Roy smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Gouveia has his takedown stuffed and Silva counters with a good low kick that Gouveia was not able to check. Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gouveia. Silva wants to clinch. A nice leg kick lands there from Silva. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva throws a series of strikes that have Gouveia backpedaling.

Gouveia doesn't succeed with the takedown and Silva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gouveia is lucky that one didn't land flush. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gouveia swats him away and circles back towards the center. Silva scores with a punch to the head. Silva throws a big shot that misses. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Silva, right into the meat.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gouveia shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva. Gouveia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard. Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gouveia manages to get himself to full guard.
