The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Takamatsu drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Takamatsu as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Falwell screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Takamatsu! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Matsui Takamatsu!
A relieved looking Matsui Takamatsu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Yahweh Falwell stepped up to the mic, saying 'Hasa diga eebowai. I guess I didn't pray hard enough, or maybe prayed too much. I bet if I rolled more instead of praying, I might have learned to defend submissions. I guess it's God's will. But to quote George Carlin: "If it's God's will and he's going to do what he wants to anyway, why'.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Funke connects with a nice short shot to Contras's temple.

Cortez throws a lazy right hand but Savea sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Savea misses with a takedown attempt - Cortez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Savea goes for a double leg but Cortez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cortez continues to drive forward.
We've been hearing reports that Savea has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Souza.

Creyonte has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Creyonte fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Aguilar.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Aguilar steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Creyonte. That one must have hurt.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Creyonte, as that shot connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
