1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladimir White! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and White finishes the takedown easily into guard. White throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. White is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. White really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith trying to control the position.
White postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. White throws a big elbow that misses. White with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Smith is looking for a triangle but White pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. White lands a couple of elbows. White connects with a couple of short punches. White content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. White lands a couple of digs. White missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. White keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head. White connects with a couple of short punches. Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but White can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smith controls White momentarily but White frees himself.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. White is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. White postures up and lands a big shot to Smith's brow. White connects with a couple of short punches. White chips away with some ground and pound.
Smith is rocked! White is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Oh Smith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! White gets to his feet and stands over Smith, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Smith felt that one! White unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Smith from any more punishment!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holloway clinches up against the ropes. Holloway has clasped his hands together around Johnson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Holloway is looking for a kimura. He might have it! Holloway with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Holloway's guard now. Holloway is looking to cinch up a triangle. Johnson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Holloway's body to avoid the submission. Holloway has instead reached around Johnson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Holloway arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bubba Jay Christopher uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Timmy Christopher has time to react. A punch combination from Bubba Jay Christopher misses. Bubba Jay Christopher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bubba Jay Christopher just misses with a punch to the body.
Bubba Jay Christopher throws a combination that misses so Timmy Christopher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Timmy Christopher is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Bubba Jay Christopher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Timmy Christopher on the ground. Herrera wants to pass the guard but Diamond is defending well. Herrera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Herrera trying to control from half guard but Diamond is working away. Herrera is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Diamond has managed to free his arm - good work. Diamond trying to control but Herrera postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Herrera misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Herrera shoots in but Diamond avoids the takedown attempt easily. Diamond misses with a takedown and Herrera counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Diamond goes for a takedown attempt but Herrera pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Diamond throws an elbow that misses. Herrera uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diamond's guard. Nice move by Herrera! Diamond has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Herrera is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Diamond. Herrera uses his free foot to push down on Diamond's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diamond. Herrera looking for a guillotine from mount but Diamond is having none of it. Herrera looking to control but Diamond is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Herrera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Herrera content just to control the position here. Herrera has hold of Diamond's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Diamond manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
My spies in Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value) inform me that Herrera has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Herrera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Herrera rushes Diamond and presses him up against the ropes. Herrera works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that's the end of the fight! Jerry Herrera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Herrera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
