Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Mr Ripley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilkka Kanerva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ripley comes to the ring accompanied by The Talented Mr. Ripley - Tu Vuo' Fa l'Americano . Kanerva has chosen Sultans of Swing as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ilkka Kanerva! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

Ripley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Ripley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ripley tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kanerva paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kanerva bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Kanerva throws a right and a left that both miss. Kanerva takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Ripley throws a series of punches but Kanerva avoids them all with ease. Kanerva avoids the head kick by Ripley.
Ripley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kanerva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kanerva lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kanerva chopping away at his opponent's legs.

and Kanerva counters with a straight right hand. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Kanerva scores with a body shot.
Ripley has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kanerva. Ripley is breathing heavily. Kanerva thows a body kick. Ripley tries to catch it but that hurt him. Kanerva scores with a jab. Ripley acknowledges it with a nod of the head. A thudding body kick lands there by Kanerva!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kanerva scores with a jab to the body. Kanerva stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Kanerva is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Ripley has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kanerva. Kanerva lands with a cross. Kanerva scores with a jab to the head.

Kanerva fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Decent striking displayed by Kanerva there. Kanerva is looking to slow Ripley down with leg kicks.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kanerva.
Kanerva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Ripley misses with a hook. Kanerva lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ripley is looking to clinch but Kanerva is avoiding it.
Kanerva moves out of range of the body kick. Nice shot lands for Kanerva. Ripley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kanerva. Ripley takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kanerva lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Good leg kick by Kanerva there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kanerva punishes Ripley's body with a nice straight punch. Ripley moves forwards but Kanerva connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ripley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kanerva. Kanerva fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ripley looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ripley is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Ripley takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Ripley needs to keep his hands up - Kanerva had a free shot at his head there. Kanerva pushes Ripley away with a front kick. Kanerva chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kanerva keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kanerva connects with an inside leg kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kanerva works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Kanerva takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Ripley chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kanerva can pounce on him.
Kanerva connects with a single shot there. That kick from Kanerva tenderised Ripley's leg. Ripley is trying to keep his angry face on. Kanerva lands with a nice body kick. Ripley drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Kanerva connects with a single shot there. Kanerva fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ripley. Kanerva jabs at Ripley's body. Ripley drops his hands momentarily and Kanerva takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Kanerva is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ripley had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Ripley will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Kanerva connects with a nice looking jab.
Kanerva connects with the punch. Kanerva lands with a cross. Ripley looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Kanerva connects with a right hand. Ripley shakes it off. Ripley on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Kanerva listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Ilkka Kanerva! Ilkka Kanerva very nearly forgot to thank Milwaukee's Best 160 (85% laundry) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.

Alexander has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Alexander connects with a single shot there. Alexander wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Alexander keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Nice body punch from Alexander. A nice right hand lands inside from Alexander. Alexander throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Davids head. Alexander lands a nice shot to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alexander cracks David with a nice body shot. David wants to break the clinch but can't.
Alexander scores with a hook to the body. Alexander digs a right hand underneath David's ribcage. David let out a lung full of air as it connected. Alexander throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. David looks winded! Alexander stalling against the ropes.
Alexander is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
