Ferreira doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Marin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Marin working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Marin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Marin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Marin taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ferreira!

Johasey feints and as Gomez raises his hands in defense, Johasey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gomez is on top in guard.
Gomez slips nicely into half guard.
Johasey is trying to stand up here but Gomez is controlling him well.

Johasey pushes Gomez off, looking to escape but Gomez dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Johasey is forced to tap! The fight is over!

Faria got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ramirez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Faria has managed to get both his arms back between Ramirez's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ramirez goes for a double leg but Faria avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Faria continues to drive forward.
Ramirez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Faria fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Faria throws a right and a left that Ramirez avoids nicely.

Lucas Faria has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Ramirez.
Faria misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Faria drops Ramirez with a beautiful combination! Ramirez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Faria is looking for the KO!

Ramirez drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Ramirez seems to have locked his on tight now - Faria screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ramirez, as he picks up the win!

Pettis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pettis somewhat.

Pettis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Alves defends well and Pettis ends up having to push Alves into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Alves is pressed up against the cage. Pettis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alves down to the mat. Alves avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
