Oliveira tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Valentin Ralek!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Ralek tenderised James's leg. James is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ralek slips under a jab from James.
James bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ralek's head.

It looks like Valentin Ralek has been cut.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
James lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
James cracks a nice hook into Ralek's ribs.
Ralek tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.
James cracks Ralek with a right hand to the side of the head.
James loads up on a big right hand but Ralek slips the punch.
Ralek pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James misses with an uppercut.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ralek moves away.
Ralek tries to clinch but James moves out of range.
James scores with a sloppy right hand. Ralek should have avoided that one.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James throws a hook but Ralek blocks it.

James scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ralek in his tracks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ralek throws a wild body kick that James sees coming a mile off.
Ralek connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Peter James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James cracks Ralek with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. James has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Ralek to stand back up!

Ralek is rocked!
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ralek is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
James closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Ralek out cold! Ralek corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter James!

Valentin Ralek was interviewed post fight and said 'I had some problems in the camp for this fight but i will come back better than ever for sure.'.
