The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Sheppards, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sheppards scores with a jab.
Sheppards stalks Rodriguez and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rodriguez's face. Rodriguez staggers backwards, shaken.

Rodriguez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sheppards's guard.

Sheppards had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rodriguez defends it easily.
Sheppards looking for a sweep. Not yet Sheppards, not yet.
Sheppards wants to control but Rodriguez passes easily into half guard.
Rodriguez is controlling the pace.
Rodriguez is looking to advance position but Sheppards won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rodriguez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Are you kidding me?! Island ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Lawler clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
