Gatti takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Kwaak throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gatti was covering up waiting for the punch and Kwaak finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've been hearing that Kwaak has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kwaak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kwaak Rushes Gatti and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Gatti is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Kwaak Piles on the pressure and Gatti crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Sam Kwaak started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruth closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cortez circles away.
Kruth fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cortez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cortez throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Kruth chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cortez can pounce on him.
Kruth throws a jab when Cortez was well out of range.

and Cortez makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Cortez lunges at Kruth with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kruth's hand.

Cortez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cortez wants it to stay on the feet.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kruth has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kruth and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Kruth has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Marcolini's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Skarsgard connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Marcolini scrambles back to his feet.

Skarsgard manages to break the clinch.

Marcolini shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Skarsgard eats them both and turns towards Marcolini to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Thor Skarsgard has been cut.

We've been told by Skarsgard's head coaches at Ballas Only that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Marcolini's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

and Skarsgard counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Skarsgard connects with a nice looking jab.

Marcolini gets a clinch.
Skarsgard is trying to break the clinch but Marcolini has him pressed against the cage.
Skarsgard blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Skarsgard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Marcolini takes one on the button.
Skarsgard dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Oooooh!!! Skarsgard has knocked Marcolini down with a huge combo! Skarsgard steps away and waves a wobbly Marcolini back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Marcolini is rocked!

Marcolini is still on wobbly legs! Can Skarsgard finish him?
Marcolini takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Skarsgard feints and then cracks Marcolini's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Marcolini down.
Marcolini stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Skarsgard.
Marcolini seems to have recovered his senses.
Marcolini will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Thor Skarsgard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Marcolini.
Skarsgard lands a jab to Marcolini's midsection.
Skarsgard lands a lovely overhand right.
Skarsgard is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
and Skarsgard counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Marcolini! He's just covering up as Skarsgard starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
