The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Am throws a body punch but De Jager moves out of range. Am misses with a jab to the body
and De Jager counters with a left to the body. We've been hearing reports that Am has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. De Jager jabs Am right on the nose. Am blinks but takes it well. De Jager connects with a good right hand that stumbles Am. Am circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Am tries to clinch up but De Jager circles away and keeps his distance. Am takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. De Jager misses with a hook. Am ducked under it nicely. Am tries to clinch there but De Jager circles away.

It looks like Sam Am has been cut. De Jager lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Am goes down and covers up as De Jager starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kakuto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Suzuki did well to prevent Kakuto getting side control. Suzuki is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kakuto pulls his head out easily. Suzuki is pressing down on Kakuto's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Suzuki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Our spies down at at Great Bash Heel inform us that Suzuki has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Kakuto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Suzuki works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Suzuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kakuto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Suzuki has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kakuto should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Suzuki has tightened it up now! Kakuto should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

The Gun eats them both and turns towards Nagata to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Nagata wants to clinch. Nagata throws a head kick that misses. Nagata takes a swing at The Gun's ribcage but misses. Nagata pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nagata pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Nagata lands with a kick to the temple. The Gun shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Both fighters are breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nagata throws a quick head kick that skims the top of The Gun's head. Nagata fails in his attempt to clinch. The Gun avoids the head kick by Nagata.
Nagata tries to clinch up but The Gun circles away and keeps his distance. Nagata bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. The Gun shoots for a double leg takedown but Nagata sprawls well. He's pushed The Gun's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nagata scores with a nice right hand.
Nagata bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Excellent takedown into side control there by The Gun. Nagata can't do much from the bottom here.
And that's the end of the fight! Yuji Nagata showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nagata, winning every round. Will the judges agree? 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Smith! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Steve Erwin and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James. Smith throws a hook to the side of James's head but James sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hugo Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. James ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Excellent takedown into side control there by Smith. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. James tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Smith is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith misses with an attempted head punch from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James wants to control but Smith postures up. Smith tries to advance to mount but can't. James gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Smith there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Smith lands a couple of good shots and James has given up his back, trying to escape the position! James has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Smith lands an elbow to the side of the head. Smith lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Smith.
Smith is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! James is tapping out! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barbaros tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Clark connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Eddie Barbaros has been cut. Clark throws a low kick but it's checked well by Barbaros. Some bone on bone action there as Barbaros checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Barbaros tries to clinch up and Clark counters with a nice body shot. Barbaros is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Clark has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Barbaros moves out of range of the body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbaros wants to clinch and Clark counters with a straight right hand. Clark keeps the fight on the outside. Clark swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbaros doesn't manage to clinch there - Clark circles away.

Barbaros looks to throw an elbow but misses. Clark lands a body punch. Clark avoids a wild elbow strike from Barbaros. Clark lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Barbaros or not. Clark is trying to break the clinch but Barbaros is controlling him. Clark tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Barbaros's elbow. A short left from Clark. Clark avoiding damage as Barbaros throws knees to the body.
Barbaros takes a shot to the head. Clark working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Clark throws a head punch that misses. A head punch on the inside from Clark fails to land. Barbaros throws an elbow but it misses.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Barbaros just misses with a elbow thrown towards Clark's brow. Clark pushes Barbaros back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Barbaros trying to stall but Clark improves his position.
Clark blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Clark blocks an elbow strike from Barbaros.
Clark lands a right hand that snaps the head of Barbaros backwards. Clark lands a hook that snaps the head of Barbaros backwards. Clark blocks the elbow strike.
Clark pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Clark wants to slow Barbaros down by chopping away at his legs. Clark throws a wild body kick that Barbaros sees coming a mile off. Clark avoids the head kick by Barbaros.

Barbaros tries to clinch and Barbaros takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've been told by Barbaros's head coaches at Tetras Bowl that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Clark turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clark cracks Barbaros with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Barbaros is rocked! Clark has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Clark thuds a left hand into Barbaros's body. Oh Barbaros is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Barbaros loses concentration momentarily and Clark pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Barbaros crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Clark finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
