2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyle Fretwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darren Koscielny! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fretwell misses with an uppercut
and Koscielny counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fretwell wants to improve his position but instead Koscielny has moved into half guard.
Fretwell is looking for a sweep. Koscielny is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Fretwell moves into full guard.
Koscielny trying to control but Fretwell is working from the bottom. Fretwell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Koscielny. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fretwell tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fretwell is on top in guard.
Fretwell tries to free his leg and advance position but Koscielny is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fretwell advances to half guard. Fretwell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Koscielny's head. Fretwell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Koscielny sees it coming and defends easily. Koscielny really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fretwell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Koscielny wants to control but Fretwell is keeping busy and won't allow it. Fretwell performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Fretwell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Fretwell has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fretwell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Koscielny is looking to escape. Fretwell tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Fretwell throws some wild stikes that Koscielny manages to avoid easily.
Fretwell scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fretwell with good strikes from the mount here! Koscielny avoids a strike by Fretwell and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Fretwell's guard! Fantastic escape!

No, Koscielny has managed to get both his arms back between Fretwell's legs - danger averted. Koscielny wants to control from the top but Fretwell keeps moving. Koscielny not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Koscielny drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fretwell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fretwell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fretwell!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fretwell trying to control the action but Koscielny is working from the bottom. Fretwell sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Koscielny is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Fretwell working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fretwell wants to control but Koscielny is keeping him busy. Fretwell tries to move into full mount but can't pass Koscielny's legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fretwell is fighting off a takedown attempt but Koscielny is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fretwell to the mat. Fretwell regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Koscielny wants to control from the top but Fretwell keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Koscielny must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fretwell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Koscielny checks the leg kick nicely there.
Fretwell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Koscielny's waist but Koscielny gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fretwell off to one side. Fretwell attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Koscielny tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fretwell defends well and Koscielny ends up having to push Fretwell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Koscielny turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Koscielny manages to end up in side control.

Koscielny is trying to get an arm triangle but Fretwell is defending well. Fretwell manages to get back to half guard. Fretwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fretwell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koscielny defends it easily.

Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fretwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koscielny gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fretwell had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koscielny defends it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Daniel Hakob has been cut. Pablo looks to land a combination but Hakob avoids it well. A telegraphed right hand from Hakob misses the target. Pablo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Hakob looks to land a right hand but Pablo moved out of range. Pablo dives in and grabs Hakob's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hakob pushes down on Pablo's head and hops out. Hakob looks to land a left hand but Pablo moved out of range nicely. Hakob tries to clinch but Pablo moves out of range. Pablo connects with a looping right hand.
