The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cafuzo.
Cafuzo closes the distance and clinches.
Maddox goes for a takedown attempt but Cafuzo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Brian Maddox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cafuzo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Maddox thows a left - swing and a miss!
Maddox looks to throw the jab but Cafuzo is out of range.
Cafuzo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maddox sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cafuzo somewhat.
Maddox throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cafuzo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maddox loads up on a big right hand but Cafuzo slips the punch.
Maddox takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Maddox misses with a body punch
and Cafuzo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Maddox has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cafuzo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Maddox wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cafuzo is pressed up against the cage. Maddox has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cafuzo down to the mat. Cafuzo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carl Cafuzo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Maddox.

Maddox swings away with a body shot that misses
and Cafuzo counters by moving into the clinch.
Maddox wants a takedown.
Cafuzo gets underhooks to prevent Maddox's takedown attempt.
Maddox looks gassed!
Maddox drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cafuzo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Cafuzo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maddox uses from the top position.

Cafuzo wants to sweep here but Maddox controlling him for the moment.
Maddox postures up in Cafuzo's guard and throws a big left but Cafuzo blocks it.
Cafuzo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maddox defends well.
Cafuzo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Maddox throws a sloppy strike and Cafuzo has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Maddox is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Cafuzo!
