The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mackenzie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carvalho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Carvalho wants to control but Mackenzie is keeping busy.
Mackenzie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mackenzie wants to work for an arm triangle but Carvalho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mackenzie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carvalho sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gene fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mendes cracks a nice hook into Gene's ribs.
Mendes steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Gene. That one must have hurt.
Gene looks to score with a jab to the body but Mendes is just out of range.
Gene fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mendes has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

It looks like Phil Mendes has been cut.
Aleixo Gene seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gene throws a lazy right hand but Mendes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Gene bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Mendes! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gene pushes down on Mendes's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mendes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gene on the ground.

Gene has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Mendes is defending well but eventually Gene manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Mendes has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Callahan slips a jab and a cross from Lorenzo.
Callahan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Callahan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lorenzo was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Lorenzo lands a nice hook to Callahan's body. Callahan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Good leg kick by Lorenzo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lorenzo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A combination from Callahan does no damage.
Lorenzo throws a low kick but Callahan avoids it.
Callahan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
