The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimizu fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jackson is out of range. Jackson tries a quick counter leg kick but Shimizu is wise to it. Jab, jab by Jackson - just one landing. Jackson misses with a looping left. Shimizu checks the leg kick. Shimizu changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Shimizu throws a leg kick which misses Jackson's front leg but catches the back leg as Jackson tries to avoid it. Good leg kick by Shimizu there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Jackson throws a lazy right hand but Shimizu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Shimizu tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Shimizu pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Shimizu throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jackson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shimizu's head backwards. Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jackson throws out a powerful jab. Shimizu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jackson looks to land a right hand but Shimizu moved out of range. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Jackson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shimizu had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Shimizu blocks a low kick nicely. Jackson avoids a kick to the body.

Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Shimizu is just out of range. Jackson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Shimizu closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage. Shimizu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Jackson regains full guard. Nicely done. Shimizu wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Jackson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Shimizu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jackson holds on and takes a little breather. Shimizu slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jackson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shimizu has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shimizu has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.
Shimizu is landing with some decent strikes but Jackson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Yuya Shimizu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jackson gets back to half guard. Shimizu throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Shimizu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Shimizu is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shimizu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shimizu's back! Jackson controls the position. Shimizu can't escape the position.
What can Shimizu do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Jackson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shimizu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Shimizu as Jackson tries to tie him up. Jackson tries to throw a body punch but Shimizu avoids it by throwing Jackson back against the cage. Shimizu jumps into guard, dragging Jackson to the mat.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Yuya Shimizu will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Yuya Shimizu's cut. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shimizu, as that shot connected.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by Shimizu. That's going to slow Jackson down. Jackson lands with a right hand. Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Shimizu in a clinch.
Shimizu pushes Jackson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Jackson lands a damaging elbow. Shimizu misses with a hook to the ribs.
Both fighters working to control the clinch. Shimizu works on Jackson's body with a couple of short punches. Shimizu lands with a short head shot on the inside. Mac Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Yuya Shimizu has scored more points in the clinch so far. Shimizu misses with the head strike.
Shimizu blocks an elbow strike. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Shimizu as Jackson tries to tie him up. Shimizu lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jackson backwards. Shimizu tries to pull guard but Jackson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Shimizu scores with a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shimizu tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage. Shimizu tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuya Shimizu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackson clobbers Shimizu with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A nice leg kick lands there from Shimizu. Jackson misses with a hook. Shimizu ducked under it nicely. Shimizu moves out of range as Jackson strikes. Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shimizu drops down looking for a counter takedown but Jackson sprawls and moves away. Jackson is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shimizu. Shimizu fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Jackson checks it well. Jackson walks into a left hand. Shimizu connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yuya Shimizu. I think Shimizu has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Yuya Shimizu! After the fight, Yuya Shimizu was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
