The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thrul lands with a hook. Vanzetti tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Thrul lands a leg kick that knocks Vanzetti off balance momentarily. Vanzetti has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Thrul avoids the head kick by Vanzetti.
Sloppy strikes from Vanzetti. Those never looked like landing. Thrul looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Vanzetti won't allow Thrul to pass to mount. Thrul prevents Vanzetti from standing back up.
Thrul missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Vanzetti pushes Thrul off looking to stand but Thrul dives back in and keeps control.

Thrul throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vanzetti works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Thrul won't allow Vanzetti to get back to his feet.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Thrul misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Vanzetti takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. A left and a right from Vanzetti both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Aznar Thrul has been cut. Vanzetti throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Vanzetti tries to clinch up and Thrul counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Vanzetti wants to get back to his feet but Thrul is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Thrul pushes down on Vanzetti's leg and manages to get into half guard. Thrul lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thrul connects with a nice short shot to Vanzetti's temple. Vanzetti is defending against the submission attempts here by Thrul.
Thrul is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Vanzetti reverses the position - he's now on top in Thrul's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thrul had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vanzetti defends it easily. Thrul wants to improve his position but instead Vanzetti has moved into half guard.
Thrul has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vanzetti wants to stand up but Thrul has a hold of him and won't allow it. Thrul tries to roll over but Vanzetti keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vanzetti is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Thrul throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thrul trying to control but Vanzetti postures up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thrul gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Sacco Vanzetti is winning the standup battle so far. Thrul lands with a hook. Vanzetti tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vanzetti wants to get back to his feet but Thrul drags him back down. Vanzetti tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Vanzetti wants to try and get back to his feet. Vanzetti is bucking up trying to escape but Thrul cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Thrul lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Vanzetti tries to clinch up. A shot to the liver by Thrul. Beautiful body shot. Vanzetti moves away from the strike by Thrul. Thrul throws a push kick but Vanzetti slaps the foot to one side. Thrul throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vanzetti. Sacco Vanzetti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vanzetti tries to clinch up but Thrul circles away and keeps his distance. Sloppy strikes from Vanzetti. Those never looked like landing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thrul shoots in for a double leg but Vanzetti sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vanzetti is looking for a counter combo. Thrul fails with the takedown and Thrul takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A combination from Vanzetti does no damage.

Vanzetti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thrul was well out of range. Poor timing from Vanzetti. Vanzetti throws a right and a left that Thrul avoids nicely. Thrul takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Vanzetti swinging wildly here.
Thrul tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Thrul looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sacco Vanzetti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aznar Thrul. Thrul looks to score with a jab to the body but Vanzetti is just out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sacco Vanzetti. I think Vanzetti has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mcdermott is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Boston MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Mcdermott is looking for a sweep. Mcdermott gets back to half guard. Mayfield is trying to control. Mcdermott wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Mcdermott gets full guard. Mayfield avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mcdermott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mayfield rolls with it to try and escape but Mcdermott cranks on the arm and Mayfield is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Lopette can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Hardacre! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tiny Tim! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tim has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hardacre. Tim moves in looking to clinch but Hardacre pushes him off. Tim closes the distance and clinches. Hardacre lands a hook to the side of the head. Hardacre scores with a shot to the side of Tim's head. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Hardacre has Tim pushed against the cage. Tim tries to throw a body punch but Hardacre avoids it by throwing Tim back against the cage. Hardacre works on Tim's body with a couple of short punches. Hardacre breaks the clinch.
Hardacre circles away from the clinch attempt and Hardacre makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Tim really felt that one! Tim looks winded! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hardacre walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Tim checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hardacre throws a chopping leg kick but Tim manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Hardacre. No joy for Tim on that attempt. Tim closes the distance and clinches. Hardacre is looking to break free of the clinch but Tim has double underhooks. Tim is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hardacre lands a hook to the side of the head. Hardacre doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Tim tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hardacre swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hardacre throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Tim feints the counter takedown. Hardacre throws a leg kick but Tim moved away. Tim wants to counter with a clinch but Hardacre pushes him away. Tim tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hardacre manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A leg kick checked by Tim. Tim fails in his attempt to clinch. Hardacre throws a leg kick and Hardacre takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hardacre throws a nice inside leg kick. Tim avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Tim is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Hardacre will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

And Tim responds with a good body kick, but Hardacre manages to step out the way in time. Tim checks a leg kick. Hardacre tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Hardacre gets tackled into the cage by Tim. Tim maintains the clinch. Tim fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Hardacre creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Tim with a big uppercut! Tim tries to clinch up but Hardacre pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Tim to the mat! Tim covers up and Hardacre unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Panikov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Panikov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shamrock moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A slow jab from Panikov misses its intended target. Panikov takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Panikov is looking to clinch. Panikov misses with the combination.

and Shamrock counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Shamrock throws a big shot that misses. Shamrock gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Panikov falls off balance throwing a combination
and Shamrock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Panikov misses with a looping left. Shamrock is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Panikov. Shamrock moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Panikov closes the distance but Shamrock moves to the side and Shamrock counters with a nice uppercut. Shamrock is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Panikov had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Panikov falls off balance throwing a combination

Panikov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shamrock circles away quickly and effectively. A shot to the liver by Panikov. Beautiful body shot. A jab from Panikov finds it's way through Shamrock's defenses. Shamrock lands a jab-cross combination. Shamrock moves into the clinch. Shamrock lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Shamrock misses with a punch to the body.

Panikov throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Shamrocks head.

Shamrock has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Shamrock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Panikov misses with a jab to the body

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Panikov throws an overhand right that lands on Shamrock's shoulder, as Shamrock tries to avoid the shot. Panikov darts in trying to clinch and Shamrock counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Shamrock counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Panikov looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Panikov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Shamrock counters with a right hand that sends Panikov tumbling to the canvas! Can Shamrock finish him? He dives into Panikov's guard looking to do just that! Oh Panikov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Panikov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shamrock decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Panikov seems to have got his legs back now. Panikov connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Panikov takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Shamrock scores with a nice strike. Shamrock steps into range and cracks Panikov with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Panikov flops backwards and Shamrock dives into his guard looking to finish!
Panikov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Panikov misses with an uppercut. Shamrock saw that one coming. Panikov is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Shamrock's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Panikov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Panikov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shamrock might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Shamrock lands with a right and another and another! Panikov is in big trouble! Shamrock lands again and this time it's lights out for Panikov! A quality knockout there for Shamrock.
