La Brute shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dean eats them both and turns towards La Brute to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrei Alexeyev!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexeyev throws a body shot but no joy.
Alexeyev throws a sloppy head kick and Gumble moves out of range easily.
Alexeyev tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Alexeyev connects with a body shot that sends Gumble's belly button to the back.
Nice straight punches there by Gumble. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gumble.

It looks like Andrei Alexeyev has been cut.

Gumble drops Alexeyev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Alexeyev looks back up at him and smiles so Gumble waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Gumble counters by moving into the clinch.

Gumble tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Alexeyev tries to circle away but Gumble has him pinned against the cage.
Alexeyev wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Alexeyev seems to have recovered his senses.
A right handed body shot lands from Gumble.

Gumble misses with a hook from the clinch.
Alexeyev tries to break free but Gumble pushes him back against the cage.
Alexeyev blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gumble lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Alexeyev backwards.
Gumble misses with a punch to the body.
Gumble doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gumble throws a head punch that misses.
Alexeyev looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Alexeyev tries to circle away but Gumble has him pinned against the cage.
Gumble lands an uppercut.

Alexeyev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gumble sends Alexeyev crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Gumble is motioning to the referee to let Alexeyev up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Alexeyev has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Gumble fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Alexeyev, pushing him back against the cage.
Gumble misses with a punch on the inside.
Alexeyev wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gumble misses with a short punch on the inside.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gumble.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Alexeyev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

We've been told by Gumble's head coaches at The GYM (20 elite coaches on the Island !!!) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Gumble clinches up with Alexeyev and pushes him back against the cage.
Alexeyev is trying to break free.

Alexeyev manages to break the clinch.

Gumble drops Alexeyev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Alexeyev looks back up at him and smiles so Gumble waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Gumble keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
and Gumble counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Alexeyev! He's just covering up as Gumble starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barney Gumble!

In his post fight interview, Barney Gumble started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
