The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Blumpkin or perhaps it was just good defense by Bradley, which made it look bad. Whack! Bradley lands a heavy head kick that drops Blumpkin. The ref tackles Bradley to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Blumpkin was done.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoggets swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hoggets shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hoggets was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hoggets looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hoggets throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Gotti works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Gotti avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hoggets. Hoggets wants to free his trapped foot but Gotti is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hoggets works his way into full mount! Gotti knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hoggets on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lorenzo tries to keep at a distance but Ryan has taken the fight into the clinch. Lorenzo prevents the takedown attempt.

Lorenzo pushes Ryan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Ryan is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lorenzo is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lorenzo tries to land knees in the clinch but Ryan avoids the damage to the body. Lorenzo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ryan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ryan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ryan stands and throws Lorenzo's legs to the side, diving into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lorenzo can do anything to dispel that myth. An elbow from Ryan crashes against the mat.
Ryan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ryan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ryan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Lorenzo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ryan cranks the arm and Lorenzo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lorenzo, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Daniel Ryan! Daniel Ryan retains his lightweight title! Daniel Ryan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. The defeated Chuck Lorenzo had this to say: 'Great job Daniel your Jiu-Jitsu is phenomenal! I am no match against you that's why you are a great champion in Death Squad!'.

Sonoda is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Page managing to block the knees to the body from Sonoda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morgan misses the jab. Diaz throws the left hand but Morgan avoids the punch easily. Diaz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Morgan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Diaz misses the body punch and Morgan counters with a straight right hand. Morgan fails to land with a series of punches.
Diaz takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Morgan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Morgan throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Diaz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Diaz misses with a few strikes there.
Morgan's coach down at English Top Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Morgan's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Morgan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

enabling Morgan to counter with a crisp jab. Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Diaz is rocked! Morgan feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Diaz sprawling to the canvas! Diaz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Morgan finish him?!
Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Diaz circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Morgan. Diaz falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Morgan!
