10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavier Worner! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Worner shoots in for a takedown but Ferguson shows good takedown defense. Ferguson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Worner. Worner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ferguson avoids it really well and circles away. Ferguson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Ferguson avoids the body shot from Worner.
Ferguson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Worner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Worner is trying to control Ferguson's posture but Ferguson avoids it. Ferguson has knee on belly and moves into mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferguson won't let Worner get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Ferguson landing shots from mount. Ferguson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Ferguson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Ferguson scoring with strikes but Worner is staying in there. This has been an exciting period of action! Worner wants to hold on but Ferguson pushes him away. Ferguson prevents Worner from getting the reversal. Ferguson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferguson tries for a takedown but Brooks circles away easily and Brooks counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ferguson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brooks is looking to pass into half guard but Ferguson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Ferguson is in guard. Ferguson won't allow Brooks to sweep him here. Ferguson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ferguson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ferguson tries to free his leg and advance position but Brooks is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferguson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ferguson passes Brooks's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ferguson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brooks is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Brooks is persistently looking for the submission but Ferguson is defending it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ferguson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ferguson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
