The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicolau misses with a takedown

and Soares counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Soares.
Nicolau drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nicolau tries to pull guard but Soares forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Lucas Soares has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Celestino Nicolau.

Nicolau ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nicolau no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Soares is looking to stand up but Nicolau won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nicolau is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Soares wants to get up but he can't break Nicolau's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Soares trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Soares knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nicolau on the ground.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Soares scores with a hook to the body. Nicolau takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Soares throws a looping overhand right but Nicolau ducks down to avoid it.

Lucas Soares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Soares throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nicolau on the side of the head.
Nicolau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soares tries to avoid it but Nicolau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soares to the ground. Soares escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Soares throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Soares ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nicolau moves away.
Soares throws a hook to the side of Nicolau's head but Nicolau sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Despite the aggression on Nicolau's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Nicolau steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Soares.
Nicolau fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nicolau looks winded!
Soares looks to land a left hand but Nicolau moved out of range nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nicolau looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A big right from Soares misses.
Nicolau takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Soares lands with an uppercut that bounces Nicolau off the cage and back into range.

and Nicolau takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Nicolau tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Soares defends well and Nicolau ends up having to push Soares into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Soares dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Soares lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Soares works Nicolau's body with a nice hook.
Soares bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nicolau's head.
Soares pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Soares lands a slapping body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Soares throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nicolau on the side of the head.
Nicolau takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Nicolau walks into a left hand.
Soares lands a lovely overhand right.
Jab by Soares.
Soares sizes up Nicolau with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Nicolau gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Soares.

Nicolau is still on wobbly legs! Can Soares finish him?
Lucas Soares is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nicolau throws a sloppy head kick and Soares moves out of range easily.

Soares lunges at Nicolau with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nicolau's hand.
Soares misses with a body shot.
Nicolau gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Soares.
Nicolau goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Soares misses with a looping right.
A punch lands to the side of Nicolau 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nicolau walks into a stiff left hand from Soares.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Soares dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Soares stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Soares connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Soares misses with a hook. Nicolau ducked under it nicely.
Nicolau uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Soares.
Soares fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Nicolau to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Nicolau looks to clinch but Soares throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Nicolau taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Theiles closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones did well to prevent Theiles getting side control.
Jones flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Theiles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Theiles wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Jones wants to control but Theiles is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jones is trying to stand back up but Theiles is controlling him
Jones tries to roll over but Theiles keeps him under control.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Theiles is very close to passing his half guard.

Krahe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Montana but Montana pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Montana. No joy for Krahe on that attempt.
Montana appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Krahe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Montana circles away.
Tonny Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricky Krahe.

Montana gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Krahe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Krahe works over Montana with some ground and pound from guard.

Montana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Krahe defends it easily.

Montana is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Montana wants to stand and escape but Krahe is having none of it.

Krahe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montana pulls Krahe in close to his closed guard and prevents Krahe from doing any damage or advancing position.
Montana controls Krahe momentarily but Krahe frees himself.
Montana really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Krahe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Montana's guard.

Krahe maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Montana could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Krahe has cracked it and Montana is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Krahe!

What can Nuts do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Nuts is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. Virtanen manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.
