The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hayway throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Romero.
It looks like Rodniel Romero has been cut. Hayway misses the shot to the body. Romero takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matta misses with a two punch combination.
Hermano scores with a jab to the jaw. Hermano cracks Matta with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Matta throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Matta slips a straight right by Hermano. Hermano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Matta. Hermano changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Enrico Matta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hermano feints and then cracks Matta's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Matta down. Hermano staying out of range there. No joy there for Matta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hermano looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Matta throws a body shot but no joy. Matta fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hermano manages to avoid it. Hermano cracks Matta with an open hand slap.

Hermano lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Matta looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Matta scoring well with a low kick there.
Hermano misses with a wild body shot. Matta throws a push kick but Hermano slaps the foot to one side. Hermano misses with a lunging right hand
and Matta counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Matta with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Matta ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Matta stalks Hermano and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hermano's face. Hermano staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Pelle Hermano has been cut. Matta slips a straight right by Hermano. Nice jab there from Matta. This has been an exciting period of action! Hermano looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

A punch combination from Hermano misses. Hermano throws a combination. Matta tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Oh Matta is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Matta throws a sloppy head kick and Hermano moves out of range easily. Hermano misses with a lunging right hand

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hermano, right into the meat.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Kreese. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kreese, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Saibot has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Team Beta Male in the buildup to the fight. Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
