Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hendrik Daross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
44 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tommi Hartola! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daross plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Tommi Hartola has been cut. Hendrik Daross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Daross connects with an inside leg kick. Hartola avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Hartola throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hartola scoring well with a low kick there.
Daross lands with a kick to the temple. Hartola shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Hartola swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hartola blocks a head kick by Daross.
Daross throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Hartola counters with a good low kick that Daross was not able to check. Hartola fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Daross. Hartola feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Daross's calf. Daross lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hartola misses the shot to the body. Daross misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Daross has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Daross and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Daross tries to land a front kick but Hartola steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Daross blocks a head kick by Hartola.

Daross looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hartola scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hartola misses with a low kick as Daross jumps back. Hartola sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Hartola walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Daross checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hartola misses with a wild body shot. Daross throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Hartola counters with a good low kick that Daross was not able to check. Hartola is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Daross rather than just go for the knockout.

Hartola acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Daross connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hartola. Hartola circles away out of range and recomposes himself. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Daross thumps Hartola with a low kick. Hartola fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Daross has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Daross ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hartola moves away. Hartola takes one on the button. Daross chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hartola can pounce on him.
Hartola dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Daross. That did some damage! Hartola lands a lovely overhand right.

Daross moves out of range of the leg kick from Hartola. Hartola thuds a left hand into Daross's body. Daross defending well as Hartola loads up on a big left hand. A lazy body kick from Daross and Hartola makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Daross really felt that one! Daross throws a body punch but Hartola moves out of range. Hartola looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. A combination from Daross does no damage. Hartola is trying to counter with his kicks. Daross scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Daross throws a head kick that misses.

There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. von Richthofen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. von Richthofen trying to mount his opponent but Stifler defends it. von Richthofen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stifler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. von Richthofen is trying to control. Stifler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Stifler is looking to improve his position.

Stifler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Stifler appears to be looking for a big counter. Steve Stifler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manfred von Richthofen. von Richthofen wants to clinch up but Stifler keeps it at a distance. Stifler changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Stifler thuds a left hand into von Richthofen's body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A shot to the liver by von Richthofen. Beautiful body shot. Stifler feints a jab promting von Richthofen to slip. Stifler then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. von Richthofen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. von Richthofen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stifler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stifler looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. von Richthofen wants to control the position but Stifler says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a big shot that misses. Avalon flicks out a counter leg kick but Smith steps away. Noel Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Avalon takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses. Avalon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Avalon cracks Smith with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Avalon manages to avoid it. It seemed like Avalon was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Avalon manages to avoid it. Avalon's coach down at ~T~ Troid - Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Avalon's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Smith thows a left - swing and a miss! Smith blocks a jab. Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Avalon.
Smith appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Avalon lands a glancing blow to the side of Smith's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Avalon misses with a straight left. Avalon tries to move into range but Smith moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like James Avalon has been cut. The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Avalon takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. BOOM! Smith lands a beautiful left hook that drops Avalon. Avalon tries to recover but Smith is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Avalon lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murkula looks for the body kick but Wang saw that one coming. Murkula has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Wang uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Murkula. Wang misses with a leg kick and Murkula counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wang manages to get to full guard.
Wang looking for a sweep. Not yet Wang, not yet. Wang preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Murkula trying to control the position from guard on top but Wang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murkula gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang keeping full guard, as Murkula tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murkula wants to control from the top but Wang keeps moving. Murkula advances position into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murkula is looking to take a break and control but Wang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Wang's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Murkula connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wang some visible discomfort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Murkula trying to control the action but Wang is working from the bottom. Wang is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Wang is not content to let Murkula control the position. Murkula scoring with punches and elbows. Wang wants to control but Murkula postures up. Murkula trying to control the position but Wang is working away.

Wang seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Murkula dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wang throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Murkula with the counter takedown but Wang avoids it easily. Wang blocks a head kick by Murkula.

That's one minute gone in the round. Murkula won't allow Wang to get back to his feet. Murkula trying to control but Wang is working from the bottom. Murkula might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wang haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Murkula has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wang working for a triangle but Murkula defends it easily.
Wang throws his legs up looking for a submission but Murkula uses it to pass to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wang tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murkula wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Murkula landing strikes. Murkula in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Murkula content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Wang is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Wang is trying to control Murkula's posture but Murkula avoids it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Murkula cracks Wang with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Wang throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murkula sees it coming and avoids it easily. Wang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Murkula moves out of range as Wang strikes. Murkula pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Wang chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Murkula can pounce on him.
Murkula lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. A clash of legs there as Wang blocks the low kick. Wang connects with a solid leg kick. Wang gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Murkula pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wang is keeping the position for now. Wang working a defensive guard here.

Murkula stalling away here and it's allowed Wang to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stroya doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Stroya checks a low kick from McBobby. Stroya is trying to counter with his kicks. Stroya takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. McBobby lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McBobby tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stroya swats him away and circles back towards the center. McBobby uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. McBobby fails in his attempt to clinch. Stroya thinks about the counter body kick. A nice inside leg kick there by McBobby. That's going to slow Stroya down. McBobby misses with a head kick.

It looks like Bobby McBobby has been cut. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stroya has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Stroya throws a leg kick but McBobby moved away. A jab from Stroya finds it's way through McBobby's defenses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McBobby checks the leg kick nicely there.
McBobby appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. A lazy left from Stroya finds it's target. Stroya is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. McBobby wants to slow Stroya down by chopping away at his legs.
