The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deegan clinches up against the cage. Deegan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Deegan is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

It looks like Tataki Mizuto has been cut. A short right from Deegan on the inside. Mizuto jumps guard but Deegan stands there with Mizuto around his waist. Mizuto gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

I was talking to Mizuto's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Mizuto is trying to push Deegan away but Deegan has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Deegan tries a knee to the head but Mizuto blocks it.

Deegan moves into range and clinches up with Mizuto. Deegan scores with a nice hook to the head. A nice glancing elbow lands by Deegan. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Deegan scores with a knee to the head.
Mizuto is rocked! Deegan just leaning against Mizuto, taking a breather. A nice left hand lands by Deegan.
Oh Mizuto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deegan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Deegan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Deegan closes the distance and pushes Mizuto back into the cage. Mizuto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Deegan dips a shoulder and cracks Mizuto with a mighty uppercut! Mizuto falls back against the cage and Deegan unloads with a barrage of strikes! Mizuto is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Deegan screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cory Deegan! A relieved looking Cory Deegan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nieto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nieto showed some decent athleticism there. Suri is staying active underneath Nieto, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Nieto with the ground and pound but Suri uses the opportunity to regain guard. Nieto postures up.
Suri is really struggling to control Nieto but he's trying to hold on to the position. Suri avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nieto lands a couple of elbows. Suri working a defensive guard but Nieto manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suri is not content to let Nieto control the position. Suri wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Nieto has hold of Suri's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Suri seems comfortable defending it but Nieto has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Suri is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Suri is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Nieto couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Captain Beefheart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beefheart attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A right-left combo lands from Beefheart. Cortega darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cortega is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Beefheart has managed to free his arm - good work. Beefheart wants to sweep but Cortega has passed to side control! Cortega is trying to ground and pound but Beefheart uses the momentary lack of control by Cortega to regain half guard.

Cortega is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Beefheart is just riding it out for now. Cortega eventually gives up the hold. That's two minutes gone in the round. Cortega lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cortega. Cortega on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Beefheart. Beefheart obviously looking to wear him down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Beefheart scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cortega doesn't seem bothered though. Cortega takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Beefheart moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Beefheart throws a body shot but no joy. An inside leg kick from Beefheart misses. Cortega tries to counter with a takedown but Beefheart is quick to defend against it. Beefheart gets tackled into the cage by Cortega. Cortega maintains the clinch. Beefheart throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Cortega jumps guard but Beefheart stands there with Cortega around his waist. Cortega gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cortega looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Beefheart stuck in half guard on the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Beefheart's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Beefheart is not content to let Cortega control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Captain Beefheart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Newmark is rocked! Vondrachek's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Vondrachek ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Newmark's jaw. Newmark's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Vondrachek does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown cracks Tsushima with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Brown tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tsushima was well out of range. Poor timing from Brown. Tsushima dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Tsushima's head and hops out. Tsushima shoots and misses and Brown counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Tsushima closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Brown sneaks back into half guard. Brown is staying active underneath Tsushima, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Tsushima is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Tsushima has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Tōshi. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Chibi Tsushima has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brown sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
