Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bear Trapp!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trapp stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Trapp wants it to stay on the feet.
A countering left hand to the body from Trapp misses.
A left lands for Trapp.
Trapp scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Trapp is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kimura shoots in looking for a takedown. Trapp tries to sprawl out of it but Kimura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Trapp manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Trapp closes the distance and clinches.
Kimura tries to break the clinch but Trapp is controlling the position.
Kimura has been working on his balance at Last Dragon MMA, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Trapp.
A right hook to the body lands for Trapp.
Trapp looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Trapp is looking to stand up but Kimura won't let him.
Trapp is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Trapp wants to get up but he can't break Kimura's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kimura is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Trapp is aware though and is defending well.

Lowvinceski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hofmann comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Werdum enables Azbuhlev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Werdum manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Chris Byrd! Chris Byrd retains his heavyweight title!
Chris Byrd was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Dante Apollyon was interviewed post fight and said 'You have won this battle, but I will win the war. After you have returned to the soil, you shall be dragged to the depths of hell, where I shall personally torment your soul for eternity. '.
