24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Clifford Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Lewis! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Lewis throws a push kick but Smith slaps the foot to one side. Smith tries to bum rush Lewis with a series of wild strikes but Lewis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lewis throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.
It looks like Clifford Smith has been cut. Lewis ducks right into an uppercut from Smith. Lewis staying out of range there. Lewis rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Smith has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Smith lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Lewis pulls Smith into guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lewis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Lewis. Clifford Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lewis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smith wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lewis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lewis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Lewis's legs - danger averted. Lewis wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment. Smith wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving. Smith throwing strikes from guard but Lewis blocks nicely.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lewis throws a sloppy head kick and Lewis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Lewis misses the body punch letting Smith counter with a right hand.

Smith misses the shot to the body. Lewis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lewis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Smith sizes up Lewis with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Smith avoids the head kick by Lewis.
Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. John Lewis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Good leg kick by Lewis there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Lewis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smith misses with a looping left. Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lewis's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eikmeyer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Nesi to counter with a crisp jab. Nesi feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Eikmeyer's calf. Eikmeyer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eikmeyer lands in his opponent's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Eikmeyer is looking to work some ground and pound but Nesi has wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eikmeyer throwing strikes but missing. Nesi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eikmeyer throws a strike but Nesi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Nesi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Nesi wanted to stand there but Eikmeyer had control of the position.

He's hooked one of Nesi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nesi's back! Nesi avoids the strikes from Eikmeyer. Nesi wants to control his opponent's hands but Eikmeyer gets his hands free. Eikmeyer looking to break Nesi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Nesi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Eikmeyer will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Eikmeyer has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Nesi defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Eikmeyer's arms. Despite being in a bad position, Nesi is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts. Nesi wants to control his opponent's hands but Eikmeyer gets his hands free.

Eikmeyer fails with the takedown and Nesi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Eikmeyer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nesi's waist but Nesi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eikmeyer off to one side. Horrible takedown attempt by Eikmeyer or perhaps it was just good defense by Nesi, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Eikmeyer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Eikmeyer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nesi to the mat! Nesi manages to get full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nesi holds on and takes a little breather. Eikmeyer has gone for a leg lock! Nesi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Eikmeyer's guard.

Kottari looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Proctor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kottari. Proctor connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Proctor blocks a jab. Proctor flicks out a counter leg kick but Kottari steps away. Kottari takes one to the chin there.
It looks like Rami Kottari has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kottari misses with a looping left. letting Proctor counter with a right hand. Kottari takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Rami Kottari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kottari walks forward, straight into a front kick from Proctor. A nice inside leg kick there by Proctor. That's going to slow Kottari down. Proctor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kottari seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Kottari swings widly with a right hand
and Proctor counters with a nice body kick.
Kottari is breathing heavily. Proctor feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kottari sprawling to the canvas! Kottari rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Proctor finish him?!

and Proctor counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Kottari badly! Proctor follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Kottari out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Proctor finished him against the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bak tries to clinch but Smokeleaf moves out of range. Smokeleaf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bak moves into the clinch successfully.
Our sources have told us that Bak has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Bak with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Smokeleaf managing to block the knees to the body from Bak.
Still in the clinch, Smokeleaf scores with a nice short uppercut. Smokeleaf lands a shoulder strike. Smokeleaf pushes Bak back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Bak using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smokeleaf has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Smokeleaf ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Smokeleaf feints and then cracks Bak's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bak down. Smokeleaf fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smokeleaf tries to bum rush Bak with a series of wild strikes but Bak uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bak drops his hands for a split second and Smokeleaf immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Bak face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Smokeleaf follows up with a right hand that knocks Bak into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Christiano Smokeleaf! A very excited looking Christiano Smokeleaf made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. Ong Bak spoke after the fight, saying 'Osssss'.

It looks like Mitka Boycheck has been cut. Mitka Boycheck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Icarus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Icarus wants it to stay on the feet. Laz Icarus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitka Boycheck. Icarus connects with a single shot there. Boycheck moves into range and clinches up with Icarus. A head punch blocked on the inside by Boycheck. Icarus using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Boycheck has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Boycheck is trying to trip Icarus. He has hold of a leg but Icarus is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Boycheck persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Icarus wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Boycheck tries to free his leg and advance position but Icarus is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boycheck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Boycheck wants to pass the guard but Icarus is keeping the position. Icarus manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Icarus lands a left hand.
We've been informed that Boycheck has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Icarus landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Well, with Boycheck on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Icarus is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Icarus covering up well under a series of strikes from Boycheck. Icarus takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Boycheck gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Boycheck is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Icarus has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Boycheck has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Icarus taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Boycheck doesn't care though - he's delighted!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kessler lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Boykiy has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Boykiy and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Boykiy tries to clinch there but Kessler circles away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boykiy has Kessler pulled in close to control his posture. Kessler postures up in Boykiy's guard and throws a big left but Boykiy blocks it. Boykiy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovalenko bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Calypso's head backwards. Kovalenko throws a jab but it's blocked by Calypso. Kovalenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nikolai Kovalenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A head kick misses from Kovalenko. Kovalenko missing with a left hand there. Calypso was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kovalenko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. And Calypso tries to counter it with a takedown but Kovalenko pushes his down on his head and steps out. Kovalenko throws a left and a right that both miss

My spies in Warrior MMA and Fitness inform me that Calypso has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Calypso tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kovalenko's legs. The ground and pound from Calypso seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. We've been hearing good reports from Kovalenko's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
