The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tamland tries to clinch there but Shephard circles away.
A little jabbing left from Shephard on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Tamland blocks a low kick nicely. Shephard throws a jab when Tamland was well out of range. Tamland throws a good cross that connects.

Tamland definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Good exchange - Tamland coming out on top. Shephard feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tamland's calf. That's better than Amok was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Amok is working Solseng over with some ground and pound from side control. Solseng manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Solseng is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Solseng moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Solseng wants to sweep here but Amok controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Solseng is on top in guard.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Akabaro in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaioh takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Kaioh chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McGarrity can pounce on him.
Kearney McGarrity seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McGarrity misses with a looping right. McGarrity throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kaioh counters with a two punch combo. McGarrity goes for a high kick. It partially lands. McGarrity jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A telegraphed right hand from McGarrity misses the target. Kaioh tries to clinch but McGarrity moves out of range. Kaioh thumps McGarrity with a low kick. Kaioh will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Kaioh points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. McGarrity wakes up just in time to hear Kaioh thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Subzero throws a low kick but Maia moves out of range easily. Maia shoots in and gets a takedown into Subzero's guard. Subzero is pulling down on Maia's head. It's preventing any offense from Maia, at least for the moment. Maia wants to control from the top but Subzero keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
