The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoe closes the distance and clinches. Hoe is defending well against a takedown attempt. Hoe prevents Watt from breaking the clinch. Hoe blocks an elbow strike. I was talking to Hoe's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Watt slowing the pace effectively. Hoe avoiding damage as Watt throws knees to the body.

Hoe works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Watt trying to control the position.

9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitri Yurkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremy Smith! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith misses with a body kick. Jeremy Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Yurkov looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A low kick from Smith misses and Yurkov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Yurkov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yurkov's guard. Smith trying to stand up but can't free himself from Yurkov's guard. Smith working some strikes from top position. Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith wants to control from the top but Yurkov keeps moving. Yurkov trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.

Smith wants to stand but Yurkov is controlling his posture from full guard. Yurkov wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Yurkov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Yurkov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Yurkov doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith lands with a shot to the body. A decent looking body kick lands there for Smith. Smith goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Yurkov feinted with a counter takedown. Yurkov takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Smith throws a body kick that misses. A nice leg kick lands there from Smith. Smith connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. That kick from Smith tenderised Yurkov's leg. Yurkov is trying to keep his angry face on. Yurkov goes for a double leg but Smith avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smith continues to drive forward. Yurkov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Yurkov moves out of range easily. Smith lands a left and a right that send Yurkov crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Yurkov is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Smith looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Smith backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Yurkov's temple! It sends Yurkov violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Smith celebrates and the doctors try to help Yurkov!

Bubberman has control of Hardon's left arm, preventing Hardon from doing any damage. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Bubberman controls Hardon momentarily but Hardon frees himself. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
