The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico throws a front kick that sends Hoi stumbling back into the cage.
Hoi definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hoi checks a leg kick.
Rico throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rico has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

and Hoi counters with a huge left! Rico is in big trouble! He's backing up but Hoi isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Rico from any more damage. A dominating finish by Hoi!

Ben Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nayr is looking to clinch but Simpson is avoiding it.
It seemed like Simpson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Simpson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nayr is looking for a sweep. Simpson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Simpson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nayr's head.
Simpson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nayr keeps working.

Simpson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nayr defends it well.

Simpson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nayr is just riding it out for now. Simpson eventually gives up the hold.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Simpson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Nayr is bucking up trying to escape but Simpson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Simpson postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Nayr badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Simpson around the waist but Simpson pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Simpson is the winner by TKO! Simpson jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
