 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jay misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like McVeigh was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Jay tries to keep at a distance but McVeigh has taken the fight into the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from McVeigh. McVeigh comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. McVeigh fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Archer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kootz. Kootz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Archer as he jumps to the side. Kootz scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Archer throws a leg kick that misses. Archer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Archer wants it to stay on the feet. Sterling Archer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now.  It looks like Rage Kootz has been cut. Kootz looks winded! Kootz shoots in for a double leg but Archer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Archer misses with a body shot.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kootz looking for a sweep. Not yet Kootz, not yet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kootz holds on and takes a little breather. Archer trying to control the position from guard on top but Kootz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kootz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Archer manages to get himself to full guard.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kootz won't allow Archer to sweep him here. Kootz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Archer is trying to keep Kootz in close.

Archer moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Kootz lands a jab to the nose. Kootz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. As Kootz tries to get set, Archer tries to push him back and clinch up but Kootz manages to avoid the attempt. Kootz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Archer shoots in for a takedown but Kootz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Kootz darts in looking for a takedown but Archer gets double underhooks and turns Kootz into the cage. Kootz is breathing heavily.
Kootz drives through with a takedown into Archer's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Archer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kootz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Archer looking to control.
My spies in Xtreme HGH Fight Club (best in Amsterdam) inform me that Kootz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kootz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Archer controls Kootz momentarily but Kootz frees himself.

Kootz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Archer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kootz has managed to get both his arms back between Archer's legs - danger averted.
Kootz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Sterling Archer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kootz throwing strikes but missing. Kootz tries to free his leg and advance position but Archer is retaining full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kootz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nguyen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bale throws out the jab. A shot to the liver by Nguyen. Beautiful body shot. Bale looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fola connects with the punch. Fola has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Fola throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Knight takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fola throws a head kick that misses. Fola throws a push kick but Knight slaps the foot to one side. Fola lands a nice looking kick to the body. Knight takes a step back to recover. Fola pushes Knight away with a front kick. Knight takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. We've been hearing reports that Yang has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Nym takes a shot to the head. Nym tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Yang wants to get back to striking at distance but Nym won't allow it.

It connects and Nym has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Nym shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Yang throws a looping overhand right but Nym ducks down to avoid it. Nym drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Yang defends it well. Nym throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yang 's waist but Yang gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nym off to one side.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. A big right from Yang misses. Yang throws a front kick aimed at Nym's knee but Nym avoids it well. Nym is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yang sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Yang is looking to land body kicks. Nym avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nym shoots for a double leg takedown but Yang sprawls well. He's pushed Nym's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nice shot lands for Yang . Horrible takedown attempt by Nym or perhaps it was just good defense by Yang , which made it look bad. Sloppy strikes from Yang . Those never looked like landing. A big right from Yang misses. Yang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Yang wants it to stay on the feet. Nym shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yang but Yang pushes him off and we're back to square one.

 It looks like Sudo Nym has been cut. Yang displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nym.

Nym throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Yang tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nym is in Yang 's guard. Yang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Brandon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rivera defends well and Brandon ends up having to push Rivera into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Rivera cracks a nice hook into Brandon's ribs. A punch combination from Brandon misses. Brandon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rivera now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Rivera scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Rivera lands a nice shot to the body.
Junior Brandon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rivera catches Brandon with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Rivera lands a nice shot to the body.

IP Freely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith lands a nice leg kick that just misses Freely's sensitive parts. Freely shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Freely misses with a straight right. A jab from Smith finds it's way through Freely's defenses. Smith slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Oh Freely is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Freely circles away.
