14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leonardo DeRosa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Taylor! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DeRosa is looking to clinch. Taylor takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
DeRosa throws a low kick but Taylor avoids it. DeRosa lands with a thumping leg kick.
DeRosa swings for the body but Taylor moves out of range.
Jab from DeRosa. DeRosa throws a body punch but Taylor moves out of range. DeRosa lands with a slapping head kick. DeRosa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. It seemed like Taylor was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Taylor gets a takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! DeRosa is trying to stand up here but Taylor is controlling him well. DeRosa is staying active underneath Taylor, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so DeRosa is just riding it out for now. Taylor eventually gives up the hold. Taylor lands with a punch from half guard. DeRosa trying to control from the bottom.
DeRosa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Taylor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Taylor lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Taylor throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. DeRosa is concentrating on defense, preventing Taylor from advancing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Taylor prevents DeRosa from improving his position. DeRosa has one foot on Taylor's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Taylor swings for the body but DeRosa moves out of range.
Taylor takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Nice body kick from DeRosa. DeRosa is looking to score with low kicks. DeRosa throws a push kick but Taylor slaps the foot to one side. A chopping leg kick lands by DeRosa. DeRosa throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Taylor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in DeRosa's guard. DeRosa keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully. DeRosa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. DeRosa keeping full guard, as Taylor tries to pass.

Taylor is looking to work some ground and pound but DeRosa has wrist control. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but DeRosa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. DeRosa is looking to clinch but Taylor is avoiding it.
DeRosa looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. DeRosa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taylor was well out of range. Poor timing from DeRosa.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. DeRosa looks to land a body kick but Taylor moved away. Jab, jab by DeRosa - just one landing. DeRosa wants to clinch but Taylor slips to the side and Taylor counters with a nice double leg into side control. DeRosa won't be happy with that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taylor lands an elbow. Taylor wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by DeRosa, who protects the arm well. Taylor cracks DeRosa with an elbow. That is naaassty. Sloppy strikes there by Taylor. Sloppy strikes there by Taylor. Taylor working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Taylor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but DeRosa sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Taylor creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. A close round but Ryan Taylor will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
DeRosa stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Taylor takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
DeRosa slips a straight right by Taylor. Taylor takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. DeRosa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. DeRosa pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Taylor moves out of range of the body kick. Taylor tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. DeRosa throws a head kick that misses. Taylor with the counter takedown but DeRosa avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. DeRosa looking to land some kicks to the body here.

DeRosa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taylor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Taylor looking to sit in guard and control but DeRosa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. DeRosa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DeRosa avoids it really well and circles away. DeRosa works the jab nicely. DeRosa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Taylor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. DeRosa misses with a straight left. DeRosa misses the jab. Taylor changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. DeRosa will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Leonardo DeRosa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good leg kick by DeRosa there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

DeRosa throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Taylor with the counter takedown but DeRosa avoids it easily. DeRosa lands with a kick to the temple. Taylor shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" DeRosa is looking to wear down Taylor with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Taylor slips a nice elbow through DeRosa's hands, connecting with DeRosa's forehead. Taylor is pressing down on DeRosa's thigh, looking to free his foot. DeRosa is holding on for now. We've been told by KarelinPalmeiras's head coaches at Sanitarium that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. KarelinPalmeiras trying to control from Best's half guard. Best has other ideas though and has regained full guard. KarelinPalmeiras avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Best escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. KarelinPalmeiras gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. KarelinPalmeiras landing some decent shots from guard. Best has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

AleksandrMessi KarelinPalmeiras has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! KarelinPalmeiras stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Best swivels though and keeps the full guard. KarelinPalmeiras throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Best works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Best working for a triangle but KarelinPalmeiras defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Best defending against the ground and pound. Best wants to control but KarelinPalmeiras postures up. Best is working to avoid the ground and pound but KarelinPalmeiras connects with a decent elbow. Best sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Best wants to control but KarelinPalmeiras is keeping busy.

Kenardly rushes Fola and presses him up against the cage. I was talking to Kenardly's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Still in the clinch, Kenardly scores with a nice short uppercut. A head punch blocked on the inside by Fola. Kenardly throws an elbow that misses.

Kenardly cracks Fola with a hook to the temple - Fola is on wobbly legs here! Kenardly swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dark shoots in and drives through. Larndorf sprawls well. Larndorf doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Dark looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Larndorf can do anything to dispel that myth. Dark with a flurry of punches that miss. Dark throws a big elbow that misses. Dark trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Dark throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Larndorf is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dark throws a big right hand that misses.

Larndorf is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Dark with a body shot.

Larndorf misses with a left hand and Dark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dark. We've been hearing good reports from Dark's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Larndorf utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dark lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Dark throwing strikes but missing. Dark missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dark trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Dark shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dark was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dark is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Larndorf can do to turn this around?

Larndorf wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Dark has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. Dark will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Larndorf takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

It looks like Jicker Larndorf has been cut. Dark fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Larndorf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dark. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dark is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Larndorf is trying to escape and Dark transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Larndorf is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dark! Very nice indeed!

Woodley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Woodley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Grupe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Woodley flicks out a counter leg kick but Grupe steps away. Grupe gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
