The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ripper throws a combination that misses
and James counters with a series of strikes. Ripper will be more careful next time no doubt.
James lands a head kick. Ripper smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ripper.
James lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

James moves into the clinch.

Ripper works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ripper wanted to stand there but James had control of the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've been hearing good reports from Ripper's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chip Ripper.

Gurr moves out of range of the body kick from Gracie.
Gurr throws a counter combo.
Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gurr avoids it really well and circles away.
Gurr lands with an uppercut that bounces Gracie off the cage and back into range.
Gracie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gurr tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gurr to the ground. Gurr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Oooooh!!! Gurr has knocked Gracie down with a huge combo! Gurr steps away and waves a wobbly Gracie back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Renzo Gracie has been cut.
Gracie drops his hands for a split second and Gurr immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Gracie face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Gurr follows up with a right hand that knocks Gracie into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

A relieved looking Mega Minion thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
