The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
machida fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Gonzalez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
machida slow jab from Gonzalez misses its intended target.
Gonzalez takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gonzalez looks for a takedown but machida sprawls well.

machida pulls out of a head kick attempt.
machida keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Gonzalez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in machida's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up with machida, looking for a takedown. Gonzalez pushes machida against the cage but machida circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Benos machida is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
machida throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gonzalez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
machida misses with a few strikes there.
Benos machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gonzalez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
machida misses with a looping left.
Gonzalez has a takedown stuffed.
Gonzalez waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract machida.
machida connects with a high kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benos machida dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gonzalez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? machida is fending him off so far but Gonzalez persists. Nope, machida circles away and we're back to standing.
machida cracks the inside of Gonzalez's front leg.
machida misses the shot to the body.
Gonzalez shoots for a takedown but machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gonzalez needs to keep his hands up - machida had a free shot at his head there.

Gonzalez is rocked!
machida cracks Gonzalez on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Gonzalez falls backwards against the cage. machida follows up with more strikes that drop Gonzalez to his knees. machida keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Gonzalez! This one is all over!
