0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Hunt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Raul Mendez! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hunt napping and manages to drive through into side control! Hunt wants to get back to his feet. Mendez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hunt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mendez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hunt avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mendez.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hunt, who protects the arm well. Mendez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mendez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mendez landing a few strikes. Hunt is trying to escape and get back to his feet. That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hunt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez in side control, throwing shots but Hunt defends. Mendez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hunt is pushing Mendez's head away, looking to escape. Mendez manages to hold on to the position though. Mendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunt keeps working. Mendez looks up at the clock and then as Hunt takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mendez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Mendez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mendez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mendez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mendez is trying to get an arm triangle but Hunt is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunt is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Mendez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hunt on his heels. He'll look to pass Hunt's guard now, I'm sure. Hunt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mendez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mendez prevents Hunt from getting back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunt slaps away a takedown attempt from Mendez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hunt half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Some wild striking there from Hunt.
Mendez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hunt swinging wildly here.

Mendez goes for a double leg but Hunt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hunt continues to drive forward. The fighters roll with the hold and Hunt manages to kick Mendez off! Mendez jumps back into Hunt's guard. Hunt wants to stand but Mendez is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Hunt throws a right and a left that Mendez avoids nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hunt connects with a body shot. Mendez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Hunt throws a right and a left that Mendez avoids nicely. No joy there for Hunt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hunt scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Mendez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hunt sees that one coming and sprawls well. Mendez bounces back off the cage towards Hunt, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Hunt lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Hunt celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Lee kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is god save the queen sex pistols. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alex Harper was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

A low kick from Harper lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lee has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lee and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Some wild striking there from Harper.

Lee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Harper lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lee works the jab nicely. Lee ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Lee is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Harper scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Burns looks winded! Lean cracks Burns with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Lean cracks a nice hook into Burns's ribs. Lean scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Burns takes a body punch but keeps moving. Lean darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Burns looks to score with a jab to the body but Lean is just out of range. Lean lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lean lands with a nice body punch. Lean scores with the left hand. Burns knows he should have avoided that one. Lean is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Lean keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

That has opened up James Burns's cut even more. Burns takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Lean feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Burns sprawling to the canvas! Burns rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Lean finish him?!

The cut above James Burns's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Burns walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Burns is still on wobbly legs! Can Lean finish him? Lean lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Burns seems to have recovered his senses. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burns fails in his attempt to clinch. Lean fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Lean fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gafurov. A jab lands there for Gafurov. Gafurov throws a nice inside leg kick. Gafurov gets a double leg takedown into Alvarez's guard. We've been hearing that Gafurov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Gafurov trying to control but Alvarez is working from the bottom. Gafurov stops Alvarez from standing up. Alvarez is trying to control the position but Gafurov postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gafurov trying to control but Alvarez is working from the bottom. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Gafurov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alvarez's guard. Gafurov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saari closes the distance and clinches. Saari definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Saari lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Saari lands a hook that snaps the head of Karanov backwards. Saari works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Saari leaves Karanov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
