Maywacker tightens his grip and picks Roche up, before dumping him to the ground. Roche manages to land in guard. Maywacker wants to control from the top but Roche keeps moving. Maywacker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Maywacker landing with the ground and pound. Roche really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Maywacker scoring with some ground and pound. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daikosuke stalks Mickael and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mickael's face. Mickael staggers backwards, shaken. Daikosuke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mickael swivels and escapes. Daikosuke with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Helter drives through with a takedown into Leroux's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Helter stopping the sweep attempt from Leroux. Leroux utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Helter trying to control the position from guard on top but Leroux is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Helter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Helter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Helter is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Helter works over Leroux with some ground and pound from guard. Leroux has Helter pulled in close to control his posture. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leroux can do anything to dispel that myth.
