The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thigpen throws a sloppy head kick

and Mentagawa counters with a shoot takedown. Thigpen fights it but they end up in guard.
Thigpen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mentagawa puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Thigpen wants to control but Mentagawa passes into side.
Thigpen is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Thigpen is looking to get back to his feet here but Mentagawa is keeping cool and he's managed to take Thigpen's back.
Thigpen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mentagawa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thigpen is trying to roll into a better position but Mentagawa has get a rear naked choke and Thigpen is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allegre tries to close the distance and clinch but Fate swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fate stuns Allegre with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Allegre shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fate pinned against the ropes. Fate gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fate closes the distance and clinches.

Fate ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fate no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allegre wanted to stand there but Fate had control of the position.
Allegre throws an elbow that misses. Fate uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Allegre's guard. Nice move by Fate!

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Cartman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Joaquin tries to avoid it but Cartman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Joaquin to the ground. Joaquin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Joaquin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
