The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferdum throws a leg kick but Cherkasky moved away.
Ferdum does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Cherkasky dives in and grabs Ferdum's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ferdum pushes down on Cherkasky's head and hops out.
A little feinted left hand from Ferdum on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ferdum misses with a series of wild punches.

Cherkasky drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cherkasky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferdum swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ferdum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cherkasky is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Ferdum goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cherkasky turns into him and now he's in Ferdum's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ferdum has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cherkasky doesn't defend quickly enough and Ferdum has managed to lock this one up! Can Cherkasky escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ferdum on a fantastic submission victory.

Gooker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Torres has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
